Well I would say that those guys seems to be more "reactors" than initiators and that's what missing in the character of the guys we picked. Maybe and surely, I hope that MaxPac will take more initiatives and be a guy that in bad games, will try to make things going and so on.....But it surely doesn't look like a D'Agostini trait. And we'll see with Maxwell but doesn't seem to be as well.

The only guys, besides Subban, out of our prospects (in camp) that could have that trait of character are Chipchura, Desharnais, Neilson, Pyatt and White....and maybe Stewart if he fells like it. But as you can see, we are not talking about the game changing prospects. Though, again, I believe MaxPac could get there. And Subban is there already. But most of our guys are just responding to the atmosphere already given.

Time for Latendresse to shine. An other opportunity might not come for a while if he blows this one up. All camp he's talked about winning a spot on the top 2 lines and PP time, so tonight he needs to put up or shut up. I'm rooting for him, because if he finally gets it right, he could really compensate for some of that line's weaknesses. But I really don't know if he can keep up with those guys. We'll know soon enough I guess.

Quick question: why on god's green earth aren't they at least dressing Mayer for a pre-season game? Are they afraid he might have a good game and make their decisions harder?

Same reason why they don't dress Busto and St-Denis I guess....they don't believe he's ready. And if they would have had less games, and would have been able to cut them, they would have been cut in the first days with others as well. Thing is....if they cut them, not only the Dogs coaches are following the Habs team, but they would be only 3 practicing....Mind you, even 2 out of those 3 and maybe 3 are Cincinnati material.....Maybe if the Cyclones would have started their camp, they could have been sending them already. Still, the procedure is that they'll go through the Dogs camp and then be cut again.

I would have given all those 3 guys 1 game as well. I mean, can it be worst than yesterday? But that's not what they are thinking. But honestly, it has nothing to do with him giving them some thinking to do. Mayer won't beat Desjardins for a Dogs job. Can't imagine he'll beat Price or Halak....

I'm looking forward to see what Latendresse can do with Plekanec and Gionta.

I disagree.

D'Agostini will be on the third line.

D'agostini is useless on the 3rd, or 4th line. He needs to make the top 2, or there's no point in having him on the team.

I agree completly with you! And with the depth for our top 6 (Gomez, Cammalleri, Gionta, Plekanec, AKost, Latendresse, Pacioretty), that's why i think D'Agostini will not make that team.

So, you want to pay 2 guys 1.5 mill to be 4th liners ?

Nah, he'll be on the 3rd line with Lats and Lapierre. All 6'2, all hit and all can fight. Lapierre and Moen are good defensively, and all have some hands to score here and there.

D'ags, can't really hit. More than likely can't fight. Isn't good defensively. He has better hands, but that's not what that line is. It will be an energy line.

Pre season games are so useless !

Just an opportunity for the Habs owners to make big bucks while icing AHL caliber teams.

Injuries happen, and I don't think D'Agostini would pass through waivers. If it comes down to D'Agostini VS Stewart for the 14th forward spot, I'd much rather have D'Agostini. Guys like Stewart are a dime a dozen anyway.

What's the alternative? Having a long training camp, then proceed right into the regular season?

Absolutely, but do you blame them? If I owned the Habs, the Bell Centre would seat 50K and there would be 20 pre-season games.

Just hoping for a better effort tonight. Last night's game was atrocious all around when it wasn't merely boring me to death.

Definitely want to see if Lats can keep up with Pleks & Gionta because I think he has the offensive skills to play with those guys & they need either one of Lats or Patches to step up.

Other than that, not much that's interesting.
