Poile was willing to give up Wilson

for Kessel, but really wasn't willing to "pay the price" for keeping Kessel ... I just gathered this from reading between the lines on what he was willing to pay, in an interview on local radio ... he threw the term out offer sheet at least two or three times in the interview in a short period of time

I doubt that Poile was willing to give up Wilson for Kessel. Because look what the B's got for him! We would have had to throw in something on top of Wilson. So I say no go to that deal.

I don't think Wilson was ever on the table....everyone else minus a select few roster players likely were...

Heard the same interview and never got that impression. While he did say that he wouldn't go so far as to label anyone "untouchable" in this era, he never mentioned Wilson or any other prospects regarding the trade and said that "we offered something very comparable to what Boston got."

I doubt Wilson was ever on the table, although I'm sure Boston asked...

And I'm sure Boston fans would have loved to have Wilson on their roster.

I seriously doubt that Poile was willing to give up Wilson, if he was, Kessel would be property of the Predators right now.

Couldn't you add "speculation" to the beginning of this title? I was expecting a link to a story, but now what am I going to do with the three minutes I would've spent scratching my head and wondering why?

wrong ... he'd still be in a Leafs jersey & we'd have 3 1sts, a 2nd & a 3rd ... plus the loss of Wilson, because Kessel would have signed Burke's Offer sheet anyway, if it got to that point

And so what do we do when he won't sign for what we can offer him? We would have lost Wilson and gained nothing.

Not true. The problem with the deal wasn't that Toronto had the better package. I guarantee we had a better offer on the table than Toronto. But Kessel wouldn't sign here for the money we were offering.

I do agree that I seriously doubt Poile seriously considered Wilson as part of the deal. He probably toyed with the idea, but nothing serious.

the offer would have been contingent on Kessel signing a contract. just like it was with Toronto.

Perhaps you need to read the post again. Where exactly am I suggesting that should give up Wilson for Kessel?

These boards are going downhill fast.

I simply have a hard time believing that Poile would have included Wilson in a package for Kessel or that Boston would have turned down a package which includes Kessel. Remind me again, what is this speculation of Wilson being in the package based on?
