Just like his predecessors ( Every time I say that word I think of the Matrix movies) Rinne will only lose his job if he has poor regular season performances. He has nothing to worry about right now.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Obviously Rinne will get his chance in some real games, but IMO, unless Rinne really turns it on here in the next couple days, they will start the season splitting the starts. There is no reason to force Rinne in there if he's not mentally ready. I think citing his predecessors is a perfect reason to NOT repeat history.

Go Preds. Hopefully Atlanta will field a better team this game. They have quite a few offensive weapons. Should be a good measuring stick for our D.

I guess we'll see. It's unlike Trotz to start the season splitting starts. He usually has one main guy. I think Pekka earned himself the starting role at least initially for his performance last year. When on top of his game Peks is the the better of the two. If he struggles the first 6-8 games then we start looking at spliting starts IMO.

Steve Sullivan (Groin)
Colin Wilson (Groin)
Ben Eaves (Groin)
Francis Bouillon (Abdomen)

Are these guys 100% out, or are any possible? I thought Eaves was supposed to be back, and hadn't heard of anything serious for Wilson.

Somebody suggested eliminating the puck patrol girls. Now maybe they'll see how important they are.

Tough to say really. I don't know if they'll not play because they're injured or because there are still 35 players in camp and the coaching staff want to get a look at someone other than these guys.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say Sullivan is doubtful (because of the roster situation more than any injury), Bouillon is doubtful, Eaves is questionable, and Wilson is probable.

That reminds me when Pavel Bure was out with a pulled groin, and one announcer said that his groin felt pretty good, or something

I wonder if Jones is almost at 100% or if he is still nursing that injury as well.

As an aside, Atlanta's arena, while nice (the part that's not a shopping mall) is probably the worst place to VIEW a game I've been to. If you sit on the second level, you're likely to have the third level directly above your head, which creates a very disorienting experience.

None of the players that didn't skate with the yesterday are in the lineup for tonight.

That list includes:
Sullivan, Ward, Wilson, Belak, Eaves, and Bouillon (groin injuries) and Franson with his nose.

I could see that happening. But I guess what I would do and what Trotz would do are usually two different things

On a side note, how does Belak mange to pull a groin? Too much ice time for him?

It is a pre-existing condition from his injury last season. He passed his physical, but mentioned he still feels pinching when he skates hard. He agreed to have his contract changed from a guaranteed deal to a tryout agreement that would be re-evaluated by the end of camp. He is expected to play Saturday if he has no ill effects this week. Bouillon was scheduled to skate with the non-playing team this morning...

Well, since Glennon didn't attend morning skate and was only relayed info we only get to guess what the lineup will look like tonight...

Quote:
The second line of Martin Erat, David Legwand and Mike Santorelli will play. The Preds will also choose 9 of the following 10 forwards: Triston Grant, Ben Guite, Marcel Goc, Patric Hornqvist, Ryan Jones, Peter Olvecky, Jerred Smithson, Nick Spaling, Andreas Thuresson and Jordin Tootoo.

On defense, it will be six of the following eight: Jonathon Blum, Ryan Ellis, Dan Hamhuis, Kevin Klein, Teemu Laakso, Alexander Sulzer, Ryan Suter and Shea Weber.

In goal, Dan Ellis will start and will likely split time with Pekka Rinne.
http://data.tennessean.com/v2/bin/pl...tennessean.com

You're guess is as good as mine because O'Reilly was centering a line of Jones and Spaling yesterday and the day before Spaling was with Arnott and Dumont, while yesterday Hornqvist played there. Smithson and Tootoo have skated together the past couple days, but again two days ago it was Goc between them and yesterday it was Guite...

Santorelli - Legwand - Erat
Jones - Olvecky - Spaling
Grant - Goc - Hornqvist
Smithson - Guite - Tootoo

???

I honestly have no clue...

Defensively the pairings have been:

Suter - Weber
Hamhuis - Klein
Sulzer - Laakso
Ellis - Blum

One of those four groupings won't skate tonight...

I would guess that Suter and Weber will sit out tonight. This is likely Ryan Ellis's last action with us, I'd bet.

It looks like Nashville is actually going with these D-men (pairings are my guess):

Weber-Suter
Hamhuis-Klein
Sulzer-Yonkman

Seems weird to me that they still want a look at Yonkman. I think everyone knows what he brings to the table and it ain't that much. Makes me think (or worry) that Laakso, Franson and Blum are all heading back to Milwaukee and Yonkman is staying with Nashville as the 7th guy and Bouillon is the 6th. Although that would give Milwaukee an awesome defense for this season, perhaps even better than what they had last season as Laakso and Franson are now more experienced and I believe Blum to be better than Sulzer.

Or maybe this is just Yonkman's last chance. I hope so. Playing him ahead of Laakso or even Franson is kind of idiotic. Unless he's really sold on Bouillon as the 6th guy and doesn't want a rookie as the 7th.

Then again, that list may not be that accurate. I just noticed that Radulov is on it...
