Top Ten Sports Chants

TSN had Sports Chants on their daily "Top Ten" today. Our habs were featured twice in this top ten.

Number 4 was our "Ole ole ole" chant.

Number 1 was the "Na na na na hey hey hey goodbye" chant we invented vs the Kings in the playoffs.

I like the one where heckle the players name then follow up with a quick, "YOU SUCK."

As far as I know, TSN does not put the Top Ten video in their video player.

Was this actually invented by the Hab fans? Or just first to use it in hockey?

As far as I'm concerned the best sports chant is Liverpool's '' You'll Never Walk Alone'' followed by 9 other soccer chants.

Indeed. I remember singing it way back in early 80s.

no, i am pretty sure its an actual song, remember earing it on the radio, i think we are the first to sing it to an opposing team, and there isint a greater insulting chant then when the opposing teams fans sing it to the habs....
uggghh
i think Boston Fans sang it to the habs last year

I am positive, I remember the Habs beating out the Nordiques in 86 I think and the Forum crowd sang it. I thought this is the greatest thing I have ever heard.

According to the video it was first used by Habs fans when the Kings were on the brink of elimination. Not sure if they have any evidence to back that up though. It caught me by surprise as well
if you live in montreal and you are old enough to remember the '93 cup , then no it wont take you by surprise

I knew it was from a song and based on Wikipedia, Habs fans weren't the first ones to use it in major sports.

Edit: And I agree with Woland: "You'll Never Walk Alone" should be #1.

It comes from a 1969 song called Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Good Bye and it was converted into a sports anthem by the Chicago White Sox Organist and Fans in the late 1970s.

Marseille's «Aux Armes» is to me as good if not better.

One half of the stadium starts it and the other responds.

If the habs came up with a full song that we could all sing in unison like they do in soccer I might consider it in a top 10....otherwise no contest.
Soccer fans are sometimes 50,000 strong singing to a point where you can distinguish words (which can be quite nasty). Now that's intimidating!

If we had a full song to sing that would be sweeeet! I know the Washington Redskins have a song that they sing also. Something along the lines of Hail to the redskins etc ... its unreal.

Was the Tomahawk Chop in there? That's a brilliant chant.

Better than anything we have in hockey.

EDIT: Best one where I could get a pciture of the crowd as well.
