Flyers Trade Patrik Hersley to Nashville; Betts to be Signed Soon
Quote:
The Flyers got a bit of contract relief Wednesday afternoon when they traded defensive prospect Patrik Hersley to Nashville for future considerations, CSNPhilly.com has learned.
This move reduces the number of pro contracts the Flyers have from 49 to 48. The NHL maximum is 50. General manager Paul Holmgren had said recently that he was hoping to gain some additional contract space in case he needed it this fall.
It is expected the Flyers will sign Blair Betts to a contract very soon. Had that happened earlier this week, the Flyers would have reached the 50 contract limit.
Unreal it took this long for Blair Betts to get signed by anyone. Just when he thought he was at a point in his career where he could make the most money, he barely found a job.

I am glad to hear that Betts is will be under contract soon. He is one of those players who brings that tenacity, winning the battles in the corners in the faceoff circles and on the PK, that are absolutely crucial to any team looking to go deep in the playoffs. It might be premature, but if its true then welcome aboard Betts!!!
Its terrific to hear betts has earned a contract. He works so hard and is great in key components of the game, like face offs, the pk and working in the corners. I was reading about him more in depth on the rangers fan board and every single comment was pissed at the fact their team lost betts and he went to a rival team, which makes me very happy.
Good that Betts will be signed soon. I'd rather have homer trade away Jones very soon.
Maybe along with Cote to the Islanders for a 2nd round 2010 draft pick. They seriously need a fighter on that team badly. And honestly, Jones is better than some of their other d-men.
