My first (unofficial) game of the season. Can't wait to be back at MSG. It'll be good to see Dubi out there finally as well. Get em, boys!

I assumed that they'd want to get him in the final two games before the regular season begins, I'm not sure if there's been a confirmation yet.

EDIT: This would appear to be it: http://www.snyrangersblog.com/2009/0...nd-staal-back/

I keep having this horrible vision of Stream Train Ovie taking a run at Gaborik and him going down in a cumpled heap. Shudder.

But anyway, should be a good open game and it'll be nice to have Dubi back out there.

hey, an even slower Colton Orr managed to crosscheck Ovechkin in the face once.

Plus, Tortorella isn't going to be putting his fourth line out against Ovechkin in an effort to make them into a checking line.

The reason i brought it up was because he played for the caps last season, more of a "wouldn't that be weird" type of moment.

Hes not Tom, "lets throw out Betts Orr and Hollweg against Crosby and Malkin" Renney.

Torts I would hope has a bit higher Iq then that.

Be careful, we are talking about someone who throws water bottles on fans in the middle of a Stanley Cup playoffs game.

How fast do you have to be to cross check a guy who's parked at the blue line?

Ovies not hard to find? You just have to set him up before he gets the puck.

Brash isn't that slow.. .If Orr can get a bit hit on Ovie, then anyone can.

I'm really curious to see where Torts goes with the lines and pairings as we get closer to the season.

Ovechkin, while I am not minimizing his greatness, always does the same move. That's the only move he pretty much did against us in the playoffs. He goes down the left side, cuts in to the right, and uses the defender as a screen. That's pretty much all he does. But might I also add that he is very good at what he does lol.

And yea dubinsky is playing today, at least that's what Torts said in one of the post practice interviews on Rangers on Demand. I would pretty much expect everyone that's a regular to be in the lineup, sans Avery. Lundqvist will play the full game, and the only exceptions might be some of the defenseman and fowards still fighting, but this should pretty much be our opening night lineup in some respects.

Agreed, or at least he can do much more, cutting to the middle and using the defender as a screen is his trademark move now. Some old guy used to do it a lot too Jagr I think it was. Hopefully our younger D can minimize the effect of the screen by playing him a little closer, problem is when you pressure him, if he beats you one on one its dangerous that is where Lundqvist comes in handy.

I know that he does a lot more, but from my perspective that was one of his main offensive moves, which I misworded. I didn't mean he does ONLY that, I meant that that is one of his major offensive moves, especially in the series against us. I know he plays hard defensively, and he has a crazy good slap shot, etc; but when all is said and done, a large majority of his offensive moves are very simliar to that move I mention earlier.

Any word on the lines yet? Are we still looking at Arty as the fourth pivot between Brashear and Voros?
