Colorado Takes Game One Of A Hockey Double Header 3-2

Well, we can't win them all. I was happy to hear Clune fighting and Lewis and Richardson playing well.

Kings' were saving the good game for Vegas... yeah, that's the ticket.

Is it me or has Kopitar's camp been less than thrilling?

here's an except from the post game article at http://www.lakingsnews.com/2009/09/c...of-hockey.html

Quote:
Are the Kings’ glory days ahead? Yes…but not tonight. Though neither team played a good 60 minutes, the Avalanche played 40 and that was good enough.

The Kings were in control of the play in the first period. They outshot the Avalanche 14 to 7, established a good forecheck and worked the puck with speed through the neutral zone. The forwards played an aggressive game, back checked and communicated well with the defense to keep the Avalanche’s chances few and far between. Meanwhile, the Kings' shots got through and they were buzzing around Avalanche goaltender Craig Anderson. Peter Harrold scored at 11:17 after a head’s up play and a nice feed by Raitis Ivanans through the crease. Jack Johnson received the second assist. Richard Clune, fighting for a spot on the 4th line, fought twice for good measure and with the exception of the closing minutes of the period, at which time Colorado finally established sustained pressure, this game appeared to be all Kings. Unfortunately, the final minute of the first period became the theme for the second and third.
Not too far off from TV folks. Hang in there!

I think Kopitar took tonight off.

He is saving his energy for Saturday. Wait...is he playing Saturday? Do we know the lineup?

Yes, now that Hammond has moved up in the world of hockey reporting, someone(s) must fill the void left by his departure.

I probably should have said one or two too many. 6... Maybe 7. 8 is a bit much. I worry about cheap shot injuries from scrubs trying to prove their worth.

The experience is great for them, but 6-7 is enough.

was that article based on listening to the game on the radio? If so, that's a pretty weak excuse for journalism...

Its either a bad article or a good article, good writing or bad writing.

Next time there is a radio only game, we'll just post, "For those of you who didn't catch the game on the radio, too damn bad."

You know that scrub Hammond probably wasn't at the game tonight, yet he had the audacity to write about it. What a hack.

And what about this from a historic perspective. All those articles about the Holocaust from reporters who weren't actually at the concentration camps? And they call themselves journalists. Quattro is right. If you didn't see it live, there is nothing to write about. God, I hope we don't get any major fires in so cal from here on out because those that cover it in newspapers are totally ****. They either have to dive right in the middle of the flames to talk about the temperature or skip the write-up. Good grief, I didn't even think about this from a Biblical perspective...

Thre is a picture from the game that shows that Matt Greene still doesn't know how to fight...he looks worse than he did when he took that puck in the face.

There is also on of Clune though landing a right on Cody McLeod's face. He's my least favorite player in the league so I'm loving that photo.

I thought Nickson said Greene got high sticked or hit into the boards and was cut that way and that's why he fought Hendricks?

I heard the same thing. It didn't sound like much of a fight.. just a wrestling match.
