Marc Staal (groin), Bobby Sanguinetti, Brian Boyle will sit; Anisimov on fourth line but will move around, according to Tortorella

Caps:

Quote:
* Doesn't look like Chris Bourque is going to skate today (or play tonight). Tough break for a guy fighting for a spot.

* Judging from the players still on the ice, doesn't look like Michael Nylander is playing tonight, either.

* Looks like Jose Theodore will start in goal tonight at MSG. Could be backed up by Michal Neuvirth.

* The combos weren't obvious from this morning's practice, but it's POSSIBLE the top two lines will be 8-19-28, 21-20-17.

* Gonna be interesting to see if tough guy Brandon Sugden plays. He hasn't suited up yet, but he may be needed if Donald Brashear plays.

Higgins-Prospal-Gaborik

Voros-Anisimov-Brashear

Right after you come in the main doors off of 7th avenue, the ticket windows are staring you right in the face. Can't miss 'em.

Questioned about Brandon Dubinsky not centering Marian Gaborik, Tortorella said he would look at that combination, possibly by moving Dubinsky up and down through the lineup, possibly tonight. Artem Anisimov and Donald Brashear were other players Tortorella mentioned could be used in different spots in the lineup.

Tortorella said Staal would play Sunday at Washington but did not know whether Sanguinetti, the Lumberton, N.J. resident fighting for one of three open spots on the blue-line, would get another chance to play in the preseason.

Well I officially have no idea what the lines will be when the year starts..............meh whatever, I like the teams depth

Although I still really hope Boyle is not the guy sitting and Voros is with Anisimov on a scoring line..........Torts said he will move around the lines so Anisimov will get bumped up 2nite

Grachev is likely holding Avery's spot

Given the amount that he has played in the preseason, I think this was the logical conclusion. You don't give a 19-year old that much ice time if you're planning on going with another inexperienced player (be it Sangs, Semenov, Sauer, etc.) when the games start to count.

Ouch, I think it will hard for Grachev to get Drury and Kotalik going.

With that said, Congrats to Gilroy and Del Zotto-each of which presumably made the team! I hope Semenov stays in the fold as the 7th defenseman and rotates in and out for Gilroy and Del Zotto when either of them look as if they are getting worn out or have particularly bad games.

It's still very possible that MDZ gets sent back to the O after 9 games, at which point I would expect to see Sangs right back up with the big club. I would love to see MDZ stick all year, because let's face it he looks like he belongs, but I actually think the 9 game audition is the most likely scenario.

HATE seeing Anisimov with Brash, but I assure you that if you were to ask him, Artem would rather play 5 minutes a night on a 4th line in NY than 25 minutes a night as the best player in HFD.

First lets see how he plays out those 9 games, before thinking of sending him down.
If DZ responds well I see no reason for him not to play the full season.

Its nice to hear that Torts is going to be moving people around quite a bit during the game so that whoever is on the 4th line will be able to get some playing time(whether it be Lisin, Anisimov or whoever).

I wouldn't read too much into the initial lines for a preseason game, especially when Torts has already said that he'll be mixing them up tonight. After the performance that he's given the team this preseason, I'm confident that Anisimov will be given every chance to succeed as a full-time player this season.

It's normal for pre-season. I'd call it nice if he does in in Oct. It would be bad if that continues in Dec.

I'm not sure. Whoever is on the 4th line, as that 10th skilled forward should get some more ice time.

What for? Anisimov's evaluation is completed. He is in. Ice time has to be spent for other useful purposes.

Im extremely excited to see what DZ and Gilroy can provide this season. Even if DZ only gets 9 games, it'll be nice to see what he can do against Real NHL lines.

So if that 10th skilled forward ends up being Anisimov you would be fine with him getting 4 minutes a night?
