My favourite player of the night: O'Byrne. He was a beast on many shifts. Sure he made a few gaffs, I remember him falling at least once but I think twice for no apparent reason, but luckily they weren't costly. He was just great though otherwise. All of the D looked quite good tonight, but especially the three young guys and Gill I thought.

On offense, Gomez was great, the Kostys looked good but especially Sergei. Plekanec was awesome, as was Dags and I thought Stewart played well too.

That fight by Stewart was seriously epic, I can't imagine how tired those guys must have been. Stewy got pounded early on but returned the favor for the last half of the tilt. Hell of a scrap.

Good game over all, I was very entertained, and I loved the penalty killing when it really counted at the end.

I'm still wondering how did Sobotka got away laughing after hitting Halak like that.....with Moen and Gill on the ice. This is preseason. Couldn't care less if he's no bully, you don't hit our goalie like that. And If you do, you'll pay the price no matter who's on the ice, no matter how tall you are. Was time to get our message through, we didn't do it.

On a hockey standpoint, was a fine game. You have to love the way Halak and O'Byrne performed for sure. I did like Pyatt as well and SKost. I also liked D'Ago a whole lot, especially in the first 2 periods. Didn't like Lats and AKost. Both guys can do so much better in their own way. Same for Moen who I hope is just saving the best when it will really count 'cause so far he has not impressed me one bit.

Anybody know the gravity of Cammy's injury?

We haven't beaten Boston for a while, so it would have been nice to beat the Bruins. Oh well, its only preseason. I was surprised that Pleks was in the shootout. I don't think he's very good at them. I can only remember him scoring once

Martin pretty much said he's day-to-day and took him out for precautionary reasons. He might be back for Saturday, but they're hoping he'll be good for October 1st.

I must say that Pyatt guy is impressing me. Maybe he will turn out to be the Gorges of the Gomez trade. A player that was thrown in that turns out to be good (or useful).

Tough loss tonight, Habs had some real good chances late in the 3rd and ot, Thomas played well. BUT it's only preseason so no worries lets hope they start of the reg season better

Gomez's shootout attempt was horrible. I know he can do better than that... GEEZ.

I would have loved to see S.Kost and A.Kost in shootout.

From what I saw, the people who impressed me were:
Pyatt (real great potential)
Maxwell (good at both ends, consistent)
Spacek (he can really handle the puck well)
Obyrne (I've been the biggest hater, I hope this is him for good)
Gill (wrt what he's able to do with his reach and strength)
Gomez (on the pk, on the rush, you name it, he's living up to expectations)
Lats was pretty good with his two moves (go around the net and try wraparound shot or...no wait...that's it) and his hitting, but I wish he'd kick it up one more notch and be creative
Pleks (i dunno where people get that he was bad. he was actually taking the body, going RIGHT to the front of the net, whacking away, taking shots, using speed)
Weber (good placement and passing between him and the other D, specially on the PP + using his smart positioning to make up for size)
Metro (hugely underrated, as usual...he's gonna be so key this year)
Sergei (much better effort, but that should be his minimum, given the attention he has garnered)

Akost...reminding me a lot of Kovy. Potential to be verrrrry frustrating and then the next second, bam, crazy talent (not seen tonight much). Didn't think Dago had a good game either considering he's no lock for the second line, or even the third ftm (not a bad one either, I'm just expecting him to be bringing it hardcore this late in pre-season cuz I WANT him to make the team).

Jaro was great too. I am so still not used to seeing Sanford on the bench. Of all the new people, it weirds me out everytime I see him (maybe cuz he's doing nothing). I realize he will not be there once the season starts (touchwood the other two will be healthy).

That's it, his shootout attempt was better than D'Agostini.

I too was quite disappointed in the lack of reaction to Sobotka... That was weak. I kept waiting for someone to challenge him, I mean there was still 7 minutes left, but ah well. I'll forget about it in time, I just think it would have been nice for someone to really enforce themselves on him after that...

And how could I forget to mention Halak in the people who played well, he was fantastic tonight. Very good preseason for Jaro.

O'Byrne was solid, he looked great out there tonight. Not sure why you guys are so impressed by Tom Pyatt though? I've been following him closely since the beginning of pre-season. He's an ok player, in the way that he was able to hold his own, but he's not overly physical, nor is he gifted offensively and he's not a defensive specialist either. What does he bring that is so special? Why all that hype? There's plenty of better 4th line players out there...

Woe be me, I missed the game (done drinking now)

So SKost scored with an assist by teh Pleker. Does that mean he's like awesome now or did they both play a ****** game anyways?

Latendresse is a career 3rd line. He is the most effective on a 3rd line.

He seems to be slower than ever and can't anticipate the play... Always look lost, he always seek for the loose puck between his legs.

He won't plays on the top-2 line, I hope not.

nah, your confusing that with his sick breakaways, i can see where people forget because the shootout exists but, if you remember correctly man, pleks was REALLY good on breakaways not the shootout
