I just looked at the stats of the game and O'Byrne was the only one for the Habs who was +1.

Congratulations, you remember all of his shootout goals

Good game, O'Byrne certainly impressed, and I loved how Gomez killed off a good 30 seconds of crucial PP time on his own.

With that said though, I frankly just haven't been impressed at all with Moen. He looks slow and disinterested. Hopefully it's only a pre-season thing, but so far I really don't see how he's an upgrade over Kostopolous.

I haven't been able to watch the habs much in the pre season, but I wouldn't worry too much about guys like moen or even gui. The general rule seems to be that the bigger guys take longer to get into their groove. Of course, that isnt always the case as OB seems to be getting good reviews so far, but more often than not, the big men take a bit more time to get going..,

I'd like to add that Mara and Gill have looked pretty rusty as well... two other big men... it'll come back.

If there was any question about O'Byrne being on the team he answered it tonight. He was awesome. At the same time I was not impressed with Carle's first half of the game although he settled down at the end and made some good plays. As for Weber he still needs to improve defensively. Seems he was always a step behind everyone in his end and never came off the boards with the puck. Very much like with the Dogs last year. At this point I say OB has #7 locked up.

Something is sure. Komisarek would look better in a Martin system where forwards come closer to the D's to receive the first pass. How about having a good Komisarek AND O'Byrne. Why is it always one or the other?

Carle, Weber, Maxwell, Pyatt...are all close to the NHL. It's good to know the Habs have capable players to fill in. I think all 4 of them need a bit more polish in the AHL, but they're all very close IMO.

As for Lats...He's much more effective in his 3rd line role than he is in a top 6 role. Habs have better options in Dags, Skost and MaxP

O'Byrne had a whale of a game ... THIS is what he can do every night, now just to get it out of him.

I thought Gill has had a very good preseason. He's pretty much as advertised (slow and gets caught flat-footed sometimes with zero offense but a beast in front of the net and on the PK) and I've been pleasantly surprised at how effectively he shuts guys down in 1-on-1 situations.

Mind you I haven't seen all the games so I may have missed some of his lesser moments.

I honestly don't really care too much about preseason. It's a way to get the rust off and get ready for the regular season, results are meaningless. The most important thing is to get through the preseason healthy, which hasn't been the case. Hopefully Cammalleri's injury isn't too serious.

I was quite impressed with O'Byrne last night. He used his body well and was moving his feet pretty well. I still think he has to work on his stickhandling in the corners though. He needs to be more aggressive with his stick

He hasn't been great, but he hasn't been as bad as what some here are portraying him. Personally I like his game, he's been good on the PK and he's cleared the front of the net quite well. He's also been a steady influence on Weber.

The only problem I've seen so far is that he can get pulled out of position once in awhile. Normally that wouldn't be a bad thing, but for a player lacking speed such as Gill. It's quite noticeable when it does happen.

Mattieu Carle's agent trying to hype him up:

It's time for people to take notice of client Mathieu Carle of Montreal. The d-man had another strong outing tonight. 18+ mins of icetime.about 10 hours ago from web

Hal Gill = useless. Made so many mistakes, can't move his feet at ALL, can't shoot the puck and not aggressive at all, especially when Halak got hit from the back and he was the first to go after Sobotka (I think) but he only grabs on him. Drop them man, make him PAY

Carle seems like a poor man's Brisebois to me.. He hasn't done anything to impress in my opinion. Except weak wristers from the point.... Weber is miles ahead of him. I loved how RDS tried to hype him up too last night...

Was very nice to see OB play so well. Like i've been saying since last season he will be a very solid defenseman in the NHL as long as he keeps being involved physically.

He's showing that he also deserves to be noticed along with Weber & Subban...

There's a reason he's still with the Habs right now
