Good pick up. Added depth is never a bad thing, and he's still young.

I take it he's Burish's replacement during the time he's out?

I think he's Rockford bound. This will probably be another Doug Janik situation like last year. Rockford desperately needs a scorer.

Rockford bound. Our bottom 6 is pretty filled. Nice to see an affiliate get someone else to fill holes.

you cant claim someone and send them down. they still have to pass through waivers....

Doubt it. If they try to pass him through waivers, Tampa can just claim him and send him to Norfolk (provided nobody else puts in a claim for him) since they were the team that originally put him on waivers.

Hence the Janik analogy.

FTR, Jacob Dowell will probably fill Burish's spot.

I believe Fraser will fill that role!

He deserves to play over a rookie

Smolenak isn't ready for the NHL, and wasn't ready for the KHL as they released him...then he come crawling back to the Lightning.

Only to get put on waivers...and claimed by Chicago.

Haha wow....good riddance.

What are you smoking and where can I get some?

Came crawling back? No sir. Tampa WANTED him here, they tried to get him under contract and even when he did leave to go to the KHL, they welcomed him back and signed him.

My guess is Tampa gets him back at some point
