"Right now, [Hodgson] hasn't demonstrated anything in my mind that indicates he's ready to play at this level based on this camp," Gillis said on the TEAM 1040 morning show. "Having said that, he had an injury and we need to give it a bit more time, I guess, to let it play itself out."
Has this not been mentioned yet? I guess we don't have to worry about a delusional GM, like some may have suggested here regarding Hodgson.

I'm pretty sure that Desbiens is not waiver eligible for 2 years or until he plays 60 NHL games, whichever comes first.

I didn't think he was waiver eligible either.

Just practicing what he preaches. Hard to say that the best guy makes the team out of camp and then you pencil a guy in who has not impressed at all.

That is correct. Desbiens is definitely not waiver eligible.

Why is he so defiant about it?

A bit more time could be a couple more pre-season games or it could be 9 games to start the season. My guess is that it will be the former, but who knows.

waiver question

so I know if you have a 1 way contract. if you get sent down, you have to clear waiver and you will get pay the nhl salary if you do make it down to the minors. a 2 way contract you have nhl salary and minors salary depending where your playing at so whats the rule if you have 2 way contract? why some players have to clear and waive some don't

Waiver eligibility is based on the CBA and has nothing to do with one-way or two-way contract status.
It is based on the player's age when he signs his first NHL contact, how many years since that was signed, and how many NHL games he has played. Essentially, it gives teams protection to send down young players to develop in the minors, without risking losing them to other NHL teams.

We should have a FAQ for people about the CBA. That is the most common misconception on these boards.

Here's a good waiver guide:

It's too bad about Desbiens. I was looking forward to cracking jokes about how he brings the goods.

Such a riot I am.

This isn't Desbiens' first pro contract. He already completed a 3 year entry-level deal in the Atlanta organization before signing with the Moose last summer.

As this is his 5th pro season and 4th time he's been sent to the AHL with an NHL contract, I would certainly think he's waiver eligible.

People really have no clue about waivers. Do your research before you make a post.

My bad, I didn't think about Atlanta.

Ditto.
I assumed the Canucks contract was his first NHL contract.
His ELC was actually signed with Atlanta in 2005...my bad.
