Since Klassen is once again a CHL player...he belongs in this thread

Quote:
“We are pleasantly surprised with the return of Sam Klassen to our hockey club. He was a valuable member of our defense last season and a respected member of our dressing room,” commented Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken. “Now we look at what the best fits are for building our hockey club with the personnel moves we will have to make going forward.”

Also, for the chart, a little note of when it was last updated would be useful

Anisimov at 33
McDonagh at 39

Looks like MDZ and Grachev should be in the top 25.

"I understand the situation," said Klassen. "(The Rangers) have a lot of D-men in their system and they want me to play in a place where I'm going to get lots of ice time. It just wasn't going to work out. I understand why they're sending me back but it's definitely disappointing."

Could someone educate me on McDonagh? There was great buzz that the Rangers "stole" this great prospect- why haven't we seen him in pre-season?

'Cause he's a college player. He can't participate in pro camps without blowing his NCAA eligibility.

"One reason why he was successful last year and got drafted was his work ethic," Gilmour said of the six-foot-two, 195-pound Werek.

"He goes to the net hard. He shoots the puck well. Again, it's that effort. He wants to score, he wants to make plays. He gets mad when he doesn't. That emotion is a good thing.

"Offensively, he is gifted enough to know where to go and how to score. I am expecting big things from him."

Werek said that while he worked on his skills and particularly his skating over the summer, he knows his main calling card is his work ethic.

"Without it, I wouldn't be where I am today and I won't be going where I want to be in the future. It's always something I am going to bring to the table," said Werek, who is from Goodwood, Ont.

In less than a year, he quickly has become one of the veterans on the team, which has had a full-scale makeover designed by Gilmour. Werek is one of only six players that remain with the club after Gilmour's arrival last November. Nathan Moon, Tyler Doherty, Erik Gudbranson, Tyler Mort and Charlie Sarault are the others.

"We've got a whole different team. We can really tell we're a lot faster and a more physical team," Werek said.

"Once we get more practices in and get used to our systems, we're going to be a big team in the (Eastern Conference)."

Ya i don't fully agree but I can totally understand why you think that. I think in 2 years he can get 90+ points in the OHL, we'll see though.

just wondering, in what league did Grachev play in his draft year? On nhl.com it says he only played 1 game in the Russian league. Was he injured or did he play in some unknown league somewhere in Russia?

No, that was last year. The question was regarding his draft year since all the stats out there only show him playing one game at Yaroslavl in '07-'08. I'm not sure exactly what club he played on - I believe it was a second tier youth club (the equivalent of our HFD) for Yaroslavl and then at some point during the season he got one game with the big club, which is why you see that in his stats.

He played for Lokomotiv's junior farm team.

Quote:
The 2007-08 season has been Grachev’s most successful, as he played well for Russia’s U18 junior national team and averaged more than a goal per game for the junior Lokomotiv 2.
Quote:
Grachev also failed to get a chance to prove himself in the Super League due to the club’s depth, but should get a significant chance next season if he does not jump ship to another Russian club on the North American juniors.

Also, Luke Walker (see this post for why I'm talking about him) scored a hat trick in his game yesterday and now has five points in two games.

Just updated main post.

Daniel Maggio
is leading our prospects with 4 points (2G-2A) in 3 games.

David Kveton has a whopping 1 point (1G-0A) in 8 games...

Scott Stajcer is playing well, with a .929 SV% through 3 games (1-1-1).

I know it's early on in the season, but Maggio seems like he has some talent. Could be a real steal if he keeps up his pace he's on now for where he was drafted. Like I said though, it's real early in the season.

Hey!
I just noticed that you´re missing Dávid Skokan´s stats, so I thought I´d help out. Skokan so fra has 2 points for 1 goal and one assist in 5 games played for HC Slovan Bratislava alongside with 4 PIM and a -1 rating.
To follow his stats you can use this link at the Slovak federation website, which gets updated after every round although sometimes it takes a day or so until they update it.

Roman Horak had 2 assists,+1

Scott Stajcer gave up 5 goals to Windsor which is a great team(Hall,Ellis,Fowler,Nemisz,Panik, etc). Hall has 6 goals already.

Ethan Werek had a goal for Kingston.

Dan Maggio had an assist.+3.

Ryan Bourque was scoreless.

Thanks man. I had assumed he was still playing somewhere in Slovakia but I wasn't sure where. I added the stats to the main page.

Updated main post.
