that's awesome but of course Babcock would like him, hes a great 2 way player like Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Carter was very good in camp aswell

If Richards and Gagne both stay healthy, they're locks it seems. Unless they're out of form. Pronger will be there too. Carter I'm not 100% sure, but he has a good chance.

Carter has to be very dominate because it's not like Canada isn't deep with All-World Centers (not unlike any other position though). He might need to hope someone gets hurt. Crosby-Lecavalier-Richards-Thornton is a tough top-4 to break into.

Not to mention he's got Getzlaf and E. Staal to deal with too.

i hate Crosby he is such a wiener all he does is complain i personally think Ovechkin i way better and more exciting to watch than him if any of those players had to get injured i'd prefer Crosby because it would help the flyers and i just don't like him but as for the other players you mentioned i don't mind them at all

You're insane. If anything, Eric Staal is one of the most under rated players in the league. He's got a monster wrister, a decent slap shot, great hands, he's gritty, he hits, he's a great leader, a great 2-way player, a 40 goal scorer and a ppg player. I don't know what more you want.

As a Flyers fan and as a Canadian, in my opinion Richards is the third line centre of team Canada. Thornton might not even make the team, he is over-rated imo. He plays exceptionally well in the regular season, and then come play-off time he disappears, sort of like he did in the 2006 Olympics, he just isn't a big game player.

As much as I hate Crosby, he will be the first line centre, and Getzlaf will be the second. Pronger is a lock on D, and Gagne is by no means a lock, although, he is a strong candidate unless he stumbles at the start of the year. He is a great 2 way forward and coupled with Richards on the third line of Team Canada can kill penalties, and put the puck in the net.

As for Carter, if he starts this year like he did last year, he makes the team, but as a winger, there is no way he plays centre for Team Canada, it just won't happen. Potentially an all Philly third line for team Canada, but, I more realistically see someone like Shane Doan or Brendan Morrow playing on the third line with Richards and Gagne.

with richards on the team hes going to have alot of guys in philly rooting for team canada. he commands that kind of respect and loyalty here. if crosby is the gretzky of the new nhl richards is the messier.

i think the intention is for carter to play wing. i think he might be actually competing with gagne for that spot.

a line of doan richards and gagne is what the olympics are about. world class twoway ability on all counts and dangerous offensively as well. traditional balance of a sniper playmaker and powerforward.

That's where he played at camp and looked quite good there. I'll call it right now that Team Canada will go with a line of Staal - Getzlaf - Carter. I honestly can't see Carter not making the team.

Yeah at RW there isnt too much competition. Iginla, St. Louis, Doan, Perry, and maybe other centres who could play there.

Iginla is a lock so Carter is battling with the other 3

Well, I'm Canadian, and I don't want them to go. I don't want them to get hurt and mess up the Flyers season. I don't even think the NHL should be in the Olympics

Aren't the Olympics supposed to be about a nation's best athletes competing against each other?

If you take out the NHL, you're not staying true to tradition.

It's supposed to be best amateur athletes, not professional. The problem is that for years, countries like Sweden, Russia, Finland, (the European countries), used to send nothing but pros from their own leagues there.

I think overall Carter is better and more versatile than Perry. And also doesn't take as many penalties or stupid penalties. Remember the elbow Perry had on Giroux? I just hope he can show that for the Olympics and get the job.
