Schremp

He was waived... as far as I remember I could have sworn the Rangers tried to grab him last year or the year before at the trade deadline.

Despite us having a logjam of forwards...

I dont think it could hurt the Rangers to grab this guy on waivers...

He'll increase attendance.

You'd be surprised how many people would pay to watch some nutcase run other guys heads into the boards.

Schremp isn't ALL trash. I mean at least Voros/Rissmiller level of trash.

A smallish, non-aggressive team. Not tough at all.

1 Didn't Hollweg get sent down?
2 Schremp will be a Islander imo

I'd almost rather have him on the point over Kotalik.

But seriously, I'm not sure why the kid hasn't gotten a longer look. He wasn't at all bad in his time up last year. I mean hell, he's only played a total of 7 games in the NHL.

Pat Quinn said that he performed well in camp but that they just have too many similar players. He said they are trying to add "grit."

I think that's one of the reasons why Schremp has had a tough time cracking Edmonton's lineup. They have way too many smallish/finesse type forwards and not enough size and toughness.

Schremp has serious upside, I don't care how insane he is, you don't pass up a guy like Schremp when there is no downside.

Here come the Schremp fetish people. The Rangers are no longer in the reclamation business. No more Alexandre Daigle guys experiments.

The downside is that you have Rob Schremp on your team.

Rico Fata (waiver claim), Marcel Hossa (trade) , Alexandre Daigle (trade). That's 3 of Sather's former first round reclamation projects. He really doesn't fit, but this is something I could see Sather exploring. It's just too typical of him.

A team can only put in one waiver claim at a time, right?
'Cause then we couldn't claim another defenseman (Schubert) and Schremp.
It seems to me like Sather is waiting whether some decent d-man is on waivers/available before signing Semenov. So maybe he has to decide, and I think Schremp is more likely getting claimed before us.

robs problem is he just doesnt skate that well for a guy whos very skilled with his stick. hes got excellent offensive skills but hes got average speed and hes not real big.

i would pass on rob and thats sad really. at one time he was the cant miss prospect from central ny.

Good call on Boyle. Posted kind of quick and then realized he was an 03 first rounder (what is it with Sather and acquiring 03 1st rounders since Jessiman is the only one to not play in an NHL game, haha).

Didn't mention Ward and Sjostrom, as both were clearly 3rd/4th line players when acquired. In that case we can add Mark Bell to the list, though not playing any games I guess.

Still see Sather taking a shot on Schremp.

Eh, its just a waiver. Why not? ... The guy's attitude apparently has been there as reported by Oilers management, just they have no use for him.

Quote:
"Jordan had a terrific camp. So did Rob for that matter," Oilers head coach Pat Quinn said. "But part of the goal coming in was to change our appearance a little bit, to get some size and grit into the lineup.

...

"With Rob, it's a matter of numbers in a lot of ways. We have a number of guys who have similar sorts of looks. They're skilled. They play a lot of the game on the outside. We wanted some bigger guys, some crustier guys, and that means others don't get that a chance to start here. But his attitude is terrific. He came here with the thought that he was going to win the job and he showed us everything he has on the skill level side. Maybe he gets a chance.

"Maybe he gets picked up."

.

A young playmaking center with an attitdue, Hmmmm where did I leave the last one we had........Thinking.......

Seriously, what;s the harm? We claim Detlef and waive Voros.

Detlef doesn't work out and we have gotten rid of 2 birds with one stone.

Lets say that Detlef does work out, we have a solid playmaking center.

No lose situation.

id rather have him on the 4th line than boyle (not if it somehow affects anisimov or another yougster which it shouldnt) . not to mention rob is 23 and led the ohl in scoring.
he did good in ahl so worst case he goes to hfd but being a ny guy he might do good here who knows.
