Why bother signing McCormick if you're not going to use him?

I don't understand sending Cody down... I really don't understand it. Even if Mair is close to being ready...

Huh, looks like Kennedy, Gerbe, Paille, Myers and maybe even Paetsch will see ice time on opening night.

Talking about all the different options they have:

Oh I'm pretty sure there is Lindy. And I'm pretty sure you've found it. Just like you have the last few seasons. Let's just keep on going with that "winning" formula, eh?

It's just one big **** sandwich after another with this front office.

Yeah, let's send McCormick down and keep up Gerbe. Cause you know, this division isn't going to be tough and physical this year. And it's not like we've needed some extra grit for the last 3 seasons or anything.

And now Stafford is ****ing concussed?

FIRE RUFF!

I can't listen to it right now; are the injuries to Stafford and Lydman serious enough to keep them out for the first few games or did he not mention any timetables?

Oh and I will also echo the sentiment that sending McCormick down was a very dumb thing to do.

It may be part of a strategic move to get him cleared on waivers now so he can be used easier later. It's more likely a player will clear now when there's so many bodies on waivers. But I doubt the Sabres think that way.

Terrible move sending McCormick down. This team lacks a player like him. So now we basically have Gaustad as the only fighter/person who will stick up for teamates. (Mair being out) DUMB MOVE!!

How do you figure that?

That's a worst case scenario of having Stafford miss the opener, which I really doubt as Lindy mentioned Drew tested well today and the opener is still 4 days away. How do Kennedy, Gerbe and Paille all get into a lineup that has 2 openings at best?

I see Stafford playing Saturday for sure. Also Gerbe's heading to Portland for sure. The way Lindy talked, it seems Kennedy may be sticking around. Paille's probably the 13th guy at the moment.

However, I really don't get the McCormick thing. We bring in Cowen and McCormick to compete to replace Peter's spot and both guys end up in Portland despite playing well.

I anxiously await opening night, when we can finally go from being a less talented, softer team on paper to being one in reality.

Lydman is arguably the best defenseman on the roster, so I would definitely be ok with Lindy sitting him out to make sure he is 100%. If Stafford can't go, perhaps they could reunite the VCR line and stick Kennedy between C-Mac and Pominville?

I'm not a huge fan of the move, but perhaps they forecast a player being waived elsewhere that offers more full-time value than Cody? Doubtful, but possible. Playing with fire either way. Your scenario is far more likely..

Only other thing I can think of is that they signed McCormick as a way to lure Hardcastle to Buffalo. When that never happened, Cody became immediately waiveable.

I thought "Hardcastle? Who the hell is Hardcastle? And why would us signing McCormick lure anyone to Buffalo?"

I wonder if Gerbe will take Stafford's spot with T.V. and Roy saturday.(What's the rule again? X number of days symptom free?) I think Ellis/Kennedy/Kaleta will be the 4th line. If Tim has a tough night in the dot, Ellis can take them.

Well, hopefully the Jr. Timbits game at intermission will be somewhat entertaining.
