O'bryne, Chips and Stewie still with the team then ? Then the projected lineup for Thruday.

Chipchura is on IR... They can't send him down.

He's on a one-way contract so he probably won't be sent down anyway, unless it's for a conditional stint.

The real big news is that Paccioretty is staying. It's not surprising at this point but those were very probably the last cuts.

From Habs I/O

Say farewell, for now at least, to forwards Ben Maxwell and Tom Pyatt, defencemen Yannick Weber and Mathieu Carle, and goalie Curtis Sanford, this afternoon cut from the Canadiens roster and shipped to the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs.

Montreal will hold a final workout tomorrow morning in Caledon, Ont., then travel south to Toronto with its 23-man roster plus injured forward Kyle Chipchura for the team's 2009-10 season-opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night at the Air Canada Centre.

A couple of those guys will probably be recalled on Friday or Saturday. Hamilton plays an exhibition game(their final one) Wednesday and only start their season on Oct 4. I can't see the Habs going on the season opening roadtrip with only 22 healthy bodies.

Pacioretty-Gomez-Gionta
A Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Cammalleri
Latendresse-Lapierre-D'Agostini
Moen-Metropolit-Laraque
Stewart

Markov-Spacek
Hamrlik-O'Byrne
Gill-Mara/Gorges

probably Maxwell or Pyatt will get the call-up

Heh, our fourth line clocks in at #6, 7, 8 highest paid forwards... I guess all teams have low paid youngsters in top 6 roles, but definitely seems a little odd and that's one area I hope we can improve on down the line; not paying fourth liners more than 1 million a year!

We have the luxury of having depth. We could have Stewart-Chipchura-Some AHL vet instead, but as soon as we have some injuries we're toast. Guys like Moel and Metropolit can replace Lapierre-Latendresse one of those two if they go down...

They seem is excess because we are completely healthy right now except for Chipchura.

No I can't complain about the contract of Metro. I think he is more than a serviceable fourth liner. I really like what he brings to the team. Moen I think is potentially a good deal; I expected him to play and know that he could play on a third line, so it's not a bad deal (hopefully he confirms that thought this year!). Ol Georges is a bit of a stinker in terms of the dollars, but I just pray he can have a healthy season for once and if he's effective it makes the contract entirely more palatable.

poor pyatt man, he was making a serious case for a spot, good for patches tho, i never gave up on the kid, alot of people on this board were convinced he would be sent down and "hasnt shown a whole lot offensivly" but its clear to the GM and coaching staff that his potential is pretty high and its CLEAR also now, that they want him on one of the top 2 lines because of his SIZE and SPEED, to think latendresse could keep up with gomez, gionta, cammalleri OR plekanec was LAUGHABLE (i still love ya gui tho)

I agree, you can't look at guys like Moen and Metropolit as simply 4th liners. They are character guys that bring the kind of intangibles that your D'agostini's or Latendresse's don't. They just happen to be on the 4th line right now. I'd imagine as well that they will be used almost as much as the third line when Laraque is not in the lineup.

They also are huge parts of our penalty kill too.
