Season preview Habs

Projected to finish eighth if everything goes perfect, I dont think I agree, 6 sounds about right to me. As well they seem to think that we only have 2 2nd line centers. thoughts?

TSN rarely gets anything right, I can't stand these prediction shows.

They predicted us 11th in 2008, we finished 1st.

They predicted us 14th in 2004, we finished 7th.

Enough said.

Come on people, 8th is a reasonable prediction.

The problem for me isn't the pick of finishing 8th but the fact they think it is the best case scenario.

I like how maguire says that the key is Markov has to produce, he MUST produce...

Markov always produces you fool, its the others around him that need to do better.

I love how Mcguire makes his points by SHOUTING AND POINTING!!!!! To make him seem smart.. and creative. I dont care about his opinion, but he is OVER-RATED. He acts as if he's head-coached major teams for years.

Yeah. As for the prediction. I think 7th is good.

Perhaps. But the TSN panel makes it sound like the stars have to align in order for us to sneak into the playoffs. I think the Habs could finish 8th. They could also finish 4th or finish 11th. That's the problem predicting the current edition of the Habs. They really could finish just about anywhere from 4-11.

Dreger said how the pick works is that they poll all the experts at TSN, and the consensus pick for the habs was 8th. The for some reason at the end Dreger threw in "8th is the best case scenario". But thats not really what the tsn internal "expert" poll indicated. Its indicated 8th as the most likely scenario..

McGuire speaking consists of:

Oh Insert players name is real good coming from Insert junior team, he had insert point totals. I know his dad insert dads's name. This guy is gonna be awesome(very noticable hand motions and screaming), Insert random fact of player. Then he tops it off with a creepy stare and patting the guy beside him on the back.

i want to donkey punch the next person who mentions iginla in regards to cammalleri. from his own mouth, cammalleri said he played less than half a season with iginla. he clearly is able to produce without him as he potted 26 and 34 goal seasons with LA.

and mcguire really has to stop sucking on the toronto teet, he looks like such a fool. is he really doubting markov's abilities?

and toronto finishing only 1 spot below us (ahead of ottawa even?) is ridiculous.

No kidding. Are people expecting a conference championship from a totally re-maked roster?

McGuire is an embarrassment to hockey - the fact that NBC believes in him too is pretty freaking scary. I mean this is the same network that is capable of spitting out hit shows year after year .. yet they pick Mcguire. I know off topic - it's just that in a country where hockey is everything, why do we need to deal with McGuire's and Benoit Brunets.

Mcguire is entertaining at least, unlike Benoit Brunet or that guy on NHL Network, Dan Polard i think...

I don't expect (I can dream though), my beef was with the best finish possible comment. I know it was an 'average' if you will, it was just the comment.

Finishing eighth is a conservative expectation, in that we could just as easily make the playoffs as miss them.

I don't get why people get worked up over predictions. Their predictions are no more valid than anyone else. We are talking an 82 game schedule where about a million things can happen between now and the playoffs. All they are making wild guess with most teams and playing hunches.

To me, the Eastern Conference is wide open. I think Pittsburgh and Washington are the only locks and thats because you have the 3 best players in the world on those rosters. Everyone else has HUGE question marks and well, NYI and Atlanta just seem to the only real flops.

I don't think its unrealistic to finish top four or completely miss the playoffs (9-12 place). If you look at last years teams who made the playoffs I don't think any got much weaker and teams like Florida, T-bay and Toronto have improved while Ottawa looks much more cohesive under Clouston.

Last year, 4pts separated 6th to 8th.
In 07-08, 1pt only.
In 06-07, 2pts.

In the last couple years, it's been extremely close. So 6th or 8th, it's pretty much the same.

I expect the Habs to probably have a slow start to the season due to all the new players and learning a new system but they should be a much harder working team compared to last seasons team..

Placing the Habs in 8th is about where I expected the TSN guy's to place them but who really knows what to expect from the new Habs this year...The Habs need Price to be great...

Let the games begin!!!

Really, I fail to see how you have Florida in the "improved" category, and Atlanta in the "flop" category.

Carolina is your guess.
New Jersey still lost a couple of important players.
New York (Rangers) IMO didn't improve that much.
Philadelphie is boom or bust. If Emery fails, I don't see them being dominant.
Pittsburgh lost tons of offense.

Honestly, the Eastern Conference is wide open... for anybody.

Do you know what Donkey Punch means?

This is an incredibly strange and creepy thing for you to say at a hockey message board.
