Shanahan has left the team because they no longer have need for him on the top 3 lines anymore because of rookies emerging to make the team.

I say Montreal should trade

Sergei and Andrei, 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick

for

Shanahan, Cormier, Pikkarainen

Ithink that if we got a def we need to give a def. The hawks would not do this trade, but if we added Gorges, I think they would think about it. They get two player that make close to 1M therefore giving them more space on their salary cap.

So Kost, Kost and Gorges for Versteeg and Barker...

Pass. We have just as many opportunities for Kostitsyn to play as the Canadiens do.

We are going to trade a top 6 forward (Andrei) on our team and replace him with Shanahan, plus give up a 2nd and a 3rd? Sorry but this proposal is horrible and makes absolutely no sense.

4)Yes, not reporting is incredibly stupid.
5)Same with asking for a trade, but just look at Grabovski; obviously it worked out for him.
6)We all know no good players have EVER asked for a trade early in their careers. Nope.

So, as much as I hate SK for doing something so childish, and I don't think he's going to get much more in return than a 2nd round pick, your points aren't valid.

I DO think a team will pick him up if BG decides to trade him (he could let him rot in the KHL), and I also think he can be a top player if he fixes his attitude.
They are absolutely valid. That is, of course, if we assume that NHL GM's don't have to convince themselves that taking SK is a wonderful idea because his attitude problems have been overblown.

lol yeah right.

22 years old 0.5 PPG players with great playoffs stats and good skill set have zero value because of the media overblow his attitude issue?

You are a lunatic.

Grabovski had serious attitude problem, he had 10 NHL career points, he was 23-24 years old, asked for a trade, missed the plane, and we got a 2nd rounder in return.

SK's value is higher than was Grabovski.

Anyway...Its always the same for the Habs, none of our player have value...

Craig Rivet, 3rd rounder at best... We got Gorges and Pacioretty.

Grabovski...hmmm, general consensus was a 5th or 6th pick, we got a 2nd.

It just shows how much this board is fricking clueless when it comes down to trade value in the NHL.

Pikkarainen is a power foward a 6'2 had 35 points in 50 some odd games with HIFK last season in the finnish league. He could easily replace Andrei. You won't even give him a shot because you don't know who he is.

Shanahan would replace S.kostitsyn on the 3rd line. Cormier would be a player with another season or two in the A.

Cormier could be a premier player, 6'2 center is exactly what this team should be looking at for the future.

Habs have a less physical and further away type of centre that Cormier is in Joonas Nattinen.

Skost for Troy Brouwer is interesting, very interesting.

Brouwer for Sergei would be a good deal. I would do it, just don't know about the Hawks doing it. Maybe for Kane and him to play together.

Sharp, Brouwer, Fraser

for

Kostitsyn Brothers, Chipchura, 2nd round pick

Chicago could free up 1.3 mill in cap space. They get youth up front to help build save money to sign key players to long term contracts. Kane could reunite with SKostitsyn, Andrei could play on 2nd line as well as PP. Chipchura is for a young player with a fresh start to start in a young team such as chicago. This gives him a chance to play.

Montreal gets a solid 2nd line scoring foward in sharp, Brouwer would round out our 3rd line perfectly and Fraser could help our fourth line with youth and grit.

in any trade involving Andrei, the Habs needs to get a top 6 winger. Last 2 seasons, A. Kost has been relatively inconsistent (à la Kovalev), and still potted 25-30 goals. He is the best raw talent the Habs got right now, so much potential. Trading him for picks and prospects is very unlikely. S. Kost alone for a 3rd, S.Kost + A. Kost for a top 6 winger...

That said, the Penner trade, without the terrible contract, would be appealing...
