That roster has 24 names on it, something is wrong.

EDIT: apparently, they're allowed to carry an extra goaltender for the European trip.

IIRC they have an exemption for the two games across the pond. Florida does as well. Once they return to the states more changes will happen. Most likely the two mentioned in this thread.

Didn't LA do this with Bernier a couple years ago?

PHI should claim Crawford and waiver Boucher. Boucher is a nice backup and a vet to help Emery, but they have Esche as goalie coach, let him handle Emery and get Craw in there to pick up if needed.

PHI always kills it's goalies and throws them under the bus, Crawford could get 30+ games there.

I also think Craw is better than Backlund

Might as well have Esche in net over all four of those goalies.

i would think Atlanta should take a look, as well as maybe Colorado, Philly, maybe even a team that has the space to carry 3Gs for awhile?

Corey was the victim of falling into a slump at the worst time, and Niemi went on a hot streak at the best time. Niemi def earned the job, but both are NHL-level goalies

I'm frankly not sure either one is NHL-level. But Niemi better be...

During a press conference in Finland (posted on Hawks website), Joel Quenneville states that they have a goalie on waivers, so it looks like this is true. At least the Crawford part.

It was true. Crawford cleared. I would assume Johnson did as well.

Crawford on waivers
The Blackhawks were crossing their fingers here Thursday that no other NHL club would claim young goalie Corey Crawford on waivers. The Hawks put Crawford on waivers Wednesday after giving the edge to Antti Niemi for the backup job to Cristobal Huet.

"It was a tough decision," Hawks GM Stan Bowman told ESPN.com on Thursday. "But I don't want to elaborate more until we see what happens. I'll have more to say tomorrow."

Teams had until noon ET Thursday to put in a claim and Crawford cleared.
