Why is everyone saying it's game over without Markov? We have a completely different team than last year and no point of comparison. Strange.

We're speculating about his injury, and how serious it might be...?

I officially blame Komisarek for Markov's potential injury

We didn't have Spacek either who was a #1 defenceman for Buffalo. Schneider was the only other puckmover last year and he's nothing more than a PP specialist.

Buffalo was terrible. On most teams, Spacek is a #3 or 4.

I switched from the Bos/Cap game just in time to see it. I honestly don't think it's too serious. "Hockey in your blood" fans like us always anticipate the worse especially when its one of our top players who goes down to injury.

I'm a Bruin fan , love the Hab rivalry and hope your guy is ok . Damn good defenceman for sure, one of the best. He'll be fine!!

Buffalo was not terrible, they were 2 points out of a playoff spot with Connolly out half the season and Vanek missing 9 games. Spacek is not a #1 defenceman, don't get me wrong, but he is capable of being a band-aid solution in case of an injury to Markov.

Yeah. Short term Space can do it if needed!

I wonder if Mara will get a chance at some point, he had a couple of productive seasons maybe he still has some on him.

everyone is gone .

the team is different now.Markov is a big piece of our team but i think we can weather the storm if he is down for a bit.

some young guys in Hamilton ready and able, that can fill in .

Spacek-Gorges
Gill-Mara
Weber-OByrne

until Hamrlik is ready.

that honestly is not horrible and I feel better icing that then any of last year's atrocities with Dandy/Brise/Bouillion!

Spacek-Hamrlik
Gill-Mara
Gorges-OByrne

once Hamr is back.

tonight gave me much hope for this team

From the replay it really looks like the front of the leg. (on the other side of the achille's heel)

Are you sure it's not on the same side?

I hope it's true though...a cut in front of the leg wouldn't be that bad...

Looked like he was cut on the top of the foot by Price's skate. At least thats what appeared to be the only possible thing.

Unless its long term, I think the defense is deeper this year to accommodate it in the short term if and when Hammer returns it will solidify things.

My biggest concerns is lack of foot speed. Mara and Gill were horribly exposed.

We will see though. Its game one and not time to panic.

If he's cut then it'll be the front of his foot I think. Can't be good but it definitely isn't the Achilles Tendon at least.

He'll be fine.

Price skates with knives instead of blades. Old school style he says.

May just be a cut along the leg, let's hope.
I'm pretty sure you're right. When I saw the replay, I thought he twisted something...and then, I looked at his face, and it didn't change at all. My guess is that he didn't even felt it when it happened. After the whistle, I guess he felt it and went off the ice.

Yah, that makes sense then. kind of goes with the replay where you see him point to the toe of his skate to the trainer when he got off.

musta just been pointin to the top of the skate...

No biggie, it ain't like Lang injury. We'll just have to brace ourselves for the next 2 weeks and hope that Spacek can do the job. His signing just became even more important than we realized.

I have suffered a cut on the top of my foot(22 stiches) and I could only start putting pressure on it 2 weeks later. But I was 8 and it was a long time ago.

Hoping this is a very short term loss for us.

I think we have a better chance at coping with the loss in comparison to last year (mainly because of Spacek, and our D added is better then what we had).

If this is a long term blow to us, I fully expect Weber to be inserted into the lineup... I think it could be a huge opportunity for him and I think he can put up huge PP numbers for us.
