Not bad, I like it. I just hope Girardi and Staal have a better game than they did last time.

Staal woke up in the 3rd though, but yeah a 60+ Minute effort is desperatley needed against a scary good team like PIT.

And I hate the Igloo... We always suck in there. Prove us wrong tonight guys!

I REALLY hope Rozsival doesn't leave Del Zotto out to dry.

I trust Redden more then Rozsival, at this point in time.

Hmm...

Zipay says the D-pairings will be:

Staal - Girardi
Redden - Del Zotto
Gilroy - Rozsival

http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...notes-1.811976

Guess we will see.

Those seem pretty good, though I don't know that they'd be in that order (seems more likely that Rozsival and Del Zotto would be the third pairing)

From a veteran like yourself here, and someone very knowledgeable about all things Rangers and hockey, are you really placing importance on the way a poster listed the lines?

You know well that Tortorella switches them based on how they're playing, man.

I agree, and reasoning being that 5v5 i'd like Gilroy to get more ice time, because i feel his ability to rush the puck is more effective 5v5.

And Redden has been playing better then Rozsival this year.

Del Zotto will QB the Power Play, so he will get good ice time there, and he can earn more 5v5 time as he gets more comfortable.

That's how it was posted on Gross' twitter, but yeah my point was that I don't think those are the set in stone, 1-2-3 pairings

I would think Tortorella tries to stick with some pairings though, if he can, unless things just really aren't working. He switched stuff around a lot in preseason to get different looks, but it's not preseason anymore

Doesn't mean he won't switch things around at all this season, I just think he'll look for some stability and hope things come together

I'm pumped for this game. I go to school around Pittsburgh and I've been sporting the Rangers garb all week! Hopefully they don't let me down.

So excited for the new season. The Rangers looked good in their last pre-season. This could be a real sensational year. Or, not. But I can't wait to see.

Let's hope Modonna's butt will be good luck for the Rangers, seemed to work for A-Rod and the Yanks!!!

Why would Girardi be on the top pairing with Staal after he played horrendously in the preseason? That pairing looked horrible on Sunday.

While Staal has historically played well against Crosby, he's just not the same when he's paired with Girardi. This could get ugly...

Looking forward to seeing what the Redden - Gilroy pairing is all about.

It could either be very good or very bad... probably somewhere in the middle.

On a side note :

Welcome to the Rangers tonight:

Vinny Prospal, Ales Kotalik, Enver Lisin, Donald Brashear, Chris Higgins, Marian Gaborik and Brian Boyle.

And good luck in your very first regular season NHL game:

Matt Gilroy and Mike Del Zotto. (and Artem Anisimov, kinda)

Smart move by Torts putting Cally on the 2nd line instead of Kotalik, it will make that line much more effective. Del Zotto - Rosival scares me, but I'll wait and see before judging anymore.

me too. only difference is Voros taking a seat for Avery and the only reason that' not the case is cause of injury

I'd rather see:
Staal - Del Zotto
Redden - Girardi
Gilroy - Rozsival

but that's just me...
