You guys are kidding yourselves if you think they are going to play prospects over proven talent down there. The best will play. Not to mention I think it is better for to have some veterans in the lineup, similar to roles that Armstrong/O'Donnell, etc have played for the Kings the last few years. My lineup.

Meckler - Loktionov - Moller
Parse - Gauthier - Azevedo
King/Mikus - Holloway - Cliche
Zeiler/King - Elkins/Pelech - Westgarth/Segal

Hickey - Piskula
Voynov - Campbell
Bagnall - Mullen

Bernier
Zatkoff

I hope king wakes up this year and steps up his game. I want to see him hit and fight a lot more...

I would like to see him make a name for himself

Anybody care to take a stab at the Monarch line combos?

King / Loktionov / Moller
Parse / Azevedo / Holloway
Pelech / Cliche / Meckler
Zeiler / Gauthier / Westgarth

Hickey / Campbell
Voynov / Piskula
Bagnall / Mullen

Bernier
Zatkoff

Will this Mikus guy be any good?
Wow that's a young team. Curious to see how that lineup will do. Sure it's the AHL but man that's aweful young. Look at the defense, I hope Bernier's gonna be on top of his game, because even in the AHL you at least need a few vets on the backend.

A young team like this could use players like Tim Stapleton, Garret Stafford... or apparently Chris Chelios? (Atlanta's AHL team offered him a contract)

either way, I think the farm could use a capable veteran or 2

Dunno if he'll make the cut. However, I didn't realize he was part of the 2003 draft, and chosen fairly high, too....... http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=55357

Unfortunately, there are no veterans in Manchester this season, not one.

color me not surprised.

i recognize that the Kings need their prospects to play. but they also need some veterans from whom to learn about being a pro....and gabe gauthier doesn't cut it.

for the value of vets to a young team, see, for example the Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears.

Segal and Voce are not the typical vets you may think of but vets they are.

Segal has more than 400 games in 6 seasons at the AHL level, yet Monarchs fans don't consider him a Vet? Way to be informed...

King going to the ECHL isn't very promising.

We could just pretend that the Monarchs were too deep!

Segal on the 4th line? Gauthier on the 1st? Really?

Holloway and Walker will probably end up back in Ontario. Segal will be a 1st liner.

I'm not sure if they'll have Holloway in the ECHL for another season. He's paid his dues and is ready to contribute at the AHL level. As for Segal, you guys are right, he will be on the Monarchs top six. I just think the development of players in the system who have a future with the team is more important. Gauthier having been a part of the top six last season, I venture to guess he returns in a similar role as he is ineffective on any of the checking lines.

They do need to get rid of a forward though... if only they could find a new home for Zeiler.

Kind of surprised about King.

Glad to see Kolomatis signed. When he was drafted I had to think he was pegged to play in Manch. Though I also thought the same about Pelech. Don't know why he goes to juniors. He looked pretty good in camp and the rookie tourney. Like his game.
