Cam Barker, according to him hes a potential 1st pairing D, 23 years old, and has a howardser of a shot.

A Howardser?

Serious note; this just a random proposal from ol' Baldy I take it? No real stock behind it?

Nah, he was just saying that it would be something he'd target if he were in Gainey's shoes.

Maybe Chicago will be interested in Halak after Huets performance today.

We need to give up more to get that deal done. Barker is a stud! 40 pts in 68 games last season (29 PPP).

Barker would be an awesome pickup, but I don't see this happening.

Well I'm no GM but I can't see any Universe (except Habfantopia) where this deal gets done.

Throw in a second rounder and you've got Pierre just throwing out the typical trade offer from Habs faithful for years now.

This would make...sense. Hawks needs a goalie, Sergei has played with Kane, etc...

But we're living in reality, right?

If that offer was on the table and Gainey didn't take it I'd demand his resignation!
Barker is a serious dman and would definately fit that role. Also, just imagine the line up once Markov comes back, sick!

It is much easier to suggest potential trade options as a commentator than be a real NHL GM.

It certainly is one thing to say that you would target that individual but we don't even know if Barker is an option.

Me either. But this deal would be hawt. Now all we need is McKenzie to say it, and it will come true.

And then Price gets injured and you're left with sanford...

I wouldn't trade Halak but there's a pretty good chance we'll lose him for nothing next summer if we don't...though choice.

And Luongo gets injured you're left with Raycroft. Who cares? The Habs have a fantastic starting goalie, surround him with talent. Not every team has a back-up like Halak and they all cope.

I think he was alluding to the fact that Chicago will have some issues keeping their rfa's at season's end and might be willing to move a player for less than market value. Also, due to the immense expectations to win the cup this year, putting all your eggs in Huet's basket might be a major pitfall. After today's game I would agree. He's a typical flash in the pan montreal goaltender. How many of them have we seen? Garon, Hackett, Theodore.
