Barker is on the first year of a 3 year 3 millions per year deal. Once that deal is up he is still an rfa. Sergei and Halak is not enough.

Good one, Pierre. I'd do that deal even if we had Markov still.

And who would replace Barker in chicago? If Barker is getting trade a young dman should come their way.

Yeah. They need a big, shot blocking dman. I'm not sure we have anyone that would fit that profile. Unless they want Gill. lol

...and if Halak's dealt, we need to call up Sanford who needs to clear waivers.

If Gainey gives up the farm to get this guy hopefully he gets fired .

Id like Barker , but Sergei and Halak is plenty for me
He is worth a lot because he had 40 pts in 68 games last season, he is 23, 6 ft 3 215 pounds, and is at the beginning of his amazing 3 mil salary for the next 3 years, and he is still an RFA when his contract is up at the age of 26.

Chicago is expected to win now, that's why they might be interested in an upgrade in Halak. Let's face it everyone Price is our guy...

A-Kos has to go, recently I`ve heard reports that Kane & A-Kos still keep in touch, they`re old knights and are friends.

Seabrook , Keith not going anywhere & Campbell(Not happening because of cap) so they are stuck with Campbell, great offense guy, just won`t fit for us.. That leaves a guy like Barker out there. They have to re-sign they`re future & have to let something go, while improving themselves ....

I don't know; that's a tough call. Price hasn't proven that he can live up to his potential and having a solid, borderline starter behind him might be the best thing, though. I'm divided.

I also really don't see how Halak is the clear answer to their goaltending issues, or a clear upgrade on Huet.

The guy annoys me as much as anyone, but he was just stating one guy who he would attempt to go after and what would make sense from Chicago's POV as components in a trade.

Mathieu Carle
Jaroslav Halak
4th round pick

for

Cam Barker

No offense, but it seems the people who you think overvalue him, seem to know more about him. This guy is a stud, and if we were to get him, we would be so lucky because of the reasons I said before.

im not 100% sold.

Yes he can be a good dman , but he hasnt yet shown "stud" form ...he has been billed as being a potential one but still trying to get it together......

Speaking of McGuire, he's good friends with Jeff Molson. That's interesting to know.

On a semi-related note, I could have sworn we signed Chelios when I tuned into the Team 990 earlier, because it sounded like his name was being discussed.

Its cause they said that maybe Weber can pull a Chelios (amazing rookie season)

What's so great about Cam Barker??? He had one decent season. He played on average 18 mins a game last yr and today he only played 13 mins. For a D-man that's pretty low. It doesn't seem like he's very trusted in Chicago.

Yes I hear the rumor that when Gainey's contract runs out, Pierre could be the next GM of Montreal....LOL

Uncle George left the Molson's with a buyout clause if they fire Gainey this year it cost's them 3.8 Million :-) So expect Bob to finish the year...

That doesn't mean he won't be claimed the second time around..

Who's the backup in Hamilton? Denis? Desjardins?

Its mostly cause Chicago already has

Duncan Keith
Brent Seabrook
Brian Campbell (as much as he is overpaid, he is still good)
Brent Sopel (Defensive guy)

He is on the last pairing not because he is not good, just because their defense is incredible.

Don't forget, we are not trading a cammalleri or anything. Sergei has barely any value, and Halak is our only valuable trading tool to Chicago as they need someone to support Huet. Barker's amazing contract is another reason why it would require some extra stuff, also because we would be trading for him now at the beginning of the season.

for all these guys on here ready to give up Halak + Sergei plus Subban or another prospect , i think that way to much ..period....

Would i take Barker? yes

Do i want to give up the farm to get him .No

He was called a stud when drafted in 2004 but heading for 24 he still yet to live up to that billing ....yeah i know d take time, but UFA is 27 also ......so it could be 3 yrs and out .....

Yes he took a long time to make an impact but you have to realize the kid had 40 points in 68 games last season and another 9 points in 17 playoff games. That's pretty incredible considering it was his first full season in the NHL.
