I'm not so sure that Schubert's the best guy to get to help your PK. PK situations was one of the areas of his game that frustrated me the most. He was on the ice for a lot of the powerplay goals against and a lot of those were his fault. I'm still of the opinion that Schubert should switch to being a forward permanently, because he's a much much better forward than he is a defenceman.
All in all, I think he's a great project for a coach willing to take him on. He's got a lot of tools (skating, massive size, willing to hit, big shot), but needs to keep his game as simple as possible.
Sums it up well. There's a good chance that many of his issues may have stemmed from being completely de-motivated in Ottawa from always being the swing man. Or, his decision making might just be critically flawed, and, he may never be much better than he was in Ottawa the last couple of seasons.
It's a great low-risk acquisition for a team like Atlanta if they feel they can give him a legit spot.
