IMO, he was picked up purely for help with our PK. It's atrocious. Hopefully he can help.

I'm not so sure that Schubert's the best guy to get to help your PK. PK situations was one of the areas of his game that frustrated me the most. He was on the ice for a lot of the powerplay goals against and a lot of those were his fault. I'm still of the opinion that Schubert should switch to being a forward permanently, because he's a much much better forward than he is a defenceman.

Popovic, yes

Valabik, yes

Salmela, really don't think so, but need to see more of both

Sums it up well. There's a good chance that many of his issues may have stemmed from being completely de-motivated in Ottawa from always being the swing man. Or, his decision making might just be critically flawed, and, he may never be much better than he was in Ottawa the last couple of seasons.

It's a great low-risk acquisition for a team like Atlanta if they feel they can give him a legit spot.

I don't see any room for Schubert. I think that they are going to place him as a forward.
fify

where as he can easily beat out thorburn and gratton for the last forward spot if he can kill penalties

Schubert is this year's Colin Stuart. He'll be a forward for the penalty kill, and he may even wind up losing his job when Armstrong comes back.

with kovalchuk, enstrom, hainsey, kubina, bogosian, and salmela likely ahead of him he'd be lucky to see a power play
