The one goal he was purely beaten on was the Morrison breakaway. And even that is a tough one.

The others he had no chance. Especially when they start going in off of your own d-men. Semin had nowhere to shoot, the puck pinballed into the net off of Beauch's skate.

I agree. Time to let the fourth line slam some guys, penalties be da@@ed.

exactly my point. It's the team playing in front of them that's the issue. Course people are too blinded by the saviour Gustavson to see this.

Tea?

I really hope not either - because i'd have to smack Wilson.

This stinks - but the game was over when Toskala stunk it up in the first.

Crushed the team, and then they just started playing pondhockey, and are predictably getting burnt for it.

Ah well, Carolina's getting lambasted 6-1 by the Bruins tonight as well, so we're not alone in our misery.

Yeah didn't Maurice say have some tea and calm down because it was early in the season when people were questioning the Leafs?

I really hope that Gustavsson isn't going to get the Justin Pogge treatment here. Yes, he has been on par with Toskala this game, and some people are saying "oh well toskala is a seasoned vet, ect."

Well guess what, both those goalies are PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS. It's their jobs to stop the puck and its their jobs to keep the team in the game, which both of them have not done. They're getting paid the money, so there are no excuses like that for Gustavsson, and there are no excuses for Toskala. At this point, you can't really name a starting goalie, its a complete toss up.

But to be fair to both of them, our defense has looked absolutely atrocious. Beauchemin of all has looked like complete garbage, and I was very excited at first when we signed him. But at this point, this team looks like its in shambles.

But on the bright side, its only game 2 of 82.

Brian Burke will call out the team, I garantee it.

I am willing to bet he hasn't seen a hockey game this bad in all of his years in pro hockey. Never.

Wilson has to adopt a better system, or actually implement one. The Leafs TEAM defense has been non-existant.

You always have to look at the bright side of things though. It is the second game of the season, against a Caps team that is playing their season opener. The first goal game them a monumental amount of momentum.

I saw a lot of good things in the first game against Montreal. Hopefully we go back to that, and much more obviously.

I cannot see them playing this poorly over the season.

Jonas made at least 3 or 4 quality saves.

The last goal from Semin was a direct result of POOR defense. How the hell can they let him skate all the way to the front of the net from the top.

I've learned Ron Wilson is taking advantage of the free Centre Ice on Rogers, as he's watching how the Islanders are playing defense during the intermissions, and taking notes.

this game is ridiculous... I'd love to see our 4th liners go grind some pain into the Capitals, but none of them are even hitting... I think it's down to dropping the gloves and jumping a guy if you really want to fight him.

if Erskine doesn't want to fight, Mayers may as well lay a few on his teeth and get the boot, at least it'd send a message.

Yeah and they got shutout in their first game.

I think we need to step back and breathe here, we've got a fair amount f new players and it's only game 2. We were bound to face adversity sooner or later, hopefully our boys can respond properly in our next game. It's gonna take a while for everyone to gel.
