Personally I didn't think that Brown was a good Captain last year either. I think Johnson eventually will take the captaincy away one day. Assuming he develops his game a bit more. When I think about captains I think about Brendan Morrow, Jerome Iginla, etc. Brown is just not that type.
Basically we controlled the game and get stupid goals.......
We hit the post before Vrbata had an absolute sundays shot....
Greene was and lucky punch too.
Something like that Game will never happen to our defnse again,
horrible............. turnovers over turnovers and the Coyotes always shot it back into the goal.
That has a lot to do with luck.
But there is really one thing bad.....
Purcell - Stoll - Brown.
Jesus......... please Mr. Murray.... Stoll is not a 2nd line Center.
Actually he is not a Center in that meaning. He has no puck control and he will never be a playmaker.
It's not so much a fault of Purcell and Brown because they never got a pass or a scoring chance.
Just put a Playmaker between Brown and Purcell and everything is fine.
If we can't find one.... well Purcell is one.
Move Frolov to the Wing purcell into the middel and we have a 2nd scoring line.
But still an interesting game and i think our PP will be deadly
Kopitar? are you guys puffing? that'd been a 4-goal night for Stastny.
Four? I counted three. The one he got. The one where he bungled the pass in the slot. The one where he had Bryzgolov down and shot it right into him, and... ?

pick any one of the other 47 pucks Ryan Smyth left at Bryzgalov's feet, only to have C1 playing D3 in the high slot... twice after a whistle, the camera cut to Smyth pointing Kopitar towards the top of the crease.
I think Brown needs to get into a fight or something. He could of tried to do that tonight to spark the team, he could of tried to hit atleast.
Glaring turnovers and nerves did them in tonight, not a lack of leadership. It's hard to think about fighting when you're stunned at how many basic mistakes are occurring so frequently all night long. The team was shell shocked several times this evening.
It was a bad game, and not one to start getting in some in depth analysis over. The team blew chunks and they know it. It's not like they need to pontificate on the nuances of what went wrong. The mistakes were mack truck-like in size and weight.

definitely... the forwards were FAR too salty and making poor reads with the defensemen having just one of those nights.
I wouldn't freak out too much King's fans. I think it was more of a case of the Coyotes being 100% ready and raring to go, and the Kings coming out flat. I liked Quick, didn't think he blew the game at all.
Some **** bounces and fluke plays, and the Coyotes capitalized on all of them. It's game 1 folks.
The Sharks and their attack are going to eat the Kings alive on Tuesday. Lombardi built a team of power forwards and slow footed dmen, the result is an incredible forecheck all night, every night from the other team knowing guys like Scuderi and Greene cannot skate the puck up ice or make decent head man passes. Playoffs? Playoffs! Playoffs? I heard Scuderi bought Steve Duchesne's old house.
Now, you get your head together and hit back. Harder.
No game is the season unless it's the last game of the Finals. We can write 200 more posts about what went wrong and we would all be writing the same thing (some of us more coherently than others).
You cannot win in this league against any team, even the Yotes, if you don't bring your A game. If Detroit doesn't bring their A game, they will lose most nights. This team doesn't have enough talent to just show up and have a shot, most teams don't with the parity in this league. Looking forward, the next 2 games will tell us far more than tonight about where the Kings are and going.
I take solace knowing that Quick is a competitive and hard working goaltender who will bounce back, Doughty is very mature for his age and will learn from the mistakes tonight and not repeat them, that Frolov will build on his goal and come out stronger, that Simmonds will regain the simple and effective game he plays, and O'Donnell's return will bring some cohesiveness back to the group.
I take pride in the game I saw from Smyth and Kopitar and hope that Williams and Brown both feed off those two and get their games together.
All in all, nothing went right tonight but those types of games are few and far between.

Plus I believe Bryzgalov is like 100 and 0 versus the Kings. He just has our number.

You win the completely irrational analysis award for the night. Congrats.

He scored a goal and had a great assist to Doughty. He missed that Smyth pass in the slot but that might have been tipped. The other shot you're talking about is the one where he drew a penalty. Kopitar played well tonight.

Bryzgalov has nothing on us. Neither does Phoenix. We play like tonight against the Monarchs and Lokti scores 4 goals. We handed this game to them. It won't happen again. Murray will have the soldiers ready. This is a damn good team and, despite what the suicide rabbits here claim, can win a lot of games.

Nice post. It reminded me of Doughty's 2nd turnover.
Btw, that intro of the players was really really cheesy.
Well to sum up how the game went?
I didn't even go back in for the second period. I just chugged beer on the smoking patio.
I couldn't help but laugh. That should be posted in every losing PGT.
