I expect we'll both Carle and Weber called up. If O'Byrne didn't make the trip they'll need an extra D with the team. Chipchura or D'Agostini can fill in for Metro.

I agree with bringing Yannick Weber. But Maxwell? Is he reliable defensively?

haha this is just getting more and more depressing.
Obyrne was playing his best hockey.

We have now 1 physical defensemen in our lineup- Mara.

Bring on the forecheck.

So far guys and its known since preseason, gionta, cammalleri, plekanec and gomez are the only ones that can produce Kostitsyn is EXTREMMELLY painfull to watch i think we should surgically place a bomb under his skin to create some urgency in him... Yet we might have to also put a wire directed to God so he can make better decisions with the puck... Paccioretty is mediocre and completely useless right now AHL is obvious imo.. Unless we want him as a 3th liner...Latendresse his turning into a new Andrei K but at least he feels satisfied with himself.. Now we see an already exhausted Gill and i REALLY wonder what the heck Gainey was smoking when he gave him 2m+\2y... Or defense is brutally slow and already our best elements injured (Obryne so far was surely top 4 in performance)... At the end I wouldnt be mad if we trade the kostitsyn and some draft picks ( not our first because they could become huge picks)...Gainey has made a tremendous choice with Gionta, Cammalleri needs a center with more creativity then north- south yoyo GOmez, wich granted needs more time to find chemistry i guess. There is huge holes in this team a top 6 quality player in imo a MUST. Or i dont see us getting lucky wins very soons, i think its obvious we should 0-2 right now, but because we are 2-0 its okay? Come on Gainey be smart and find a way, anyway. Ask Bobby Clarke how they do it if you dont!!!

Just an idea, don't flip out.
you sir should be tarred and feathered! and then patted on the back for coming up with a good idea. even tho you're an idiot
seriously tho i agree fully.. i dont see why it would be TOO detrimental to his development (maxwell's) to play on the wing for some time but if it was deemed to be detrimental then another option would have to be examined.

Damn. Six weeks. That's a **** deal for O'byrne

I hope that Weber steps in and proves himself. I thought he looked good last year in his odd swing man role under Carbo, even into the playoffs he held his own.

This year in preseason I think he was even better. He didn't bring the offense but he brought a solid defensive presence. He was very effective at separating guys from the puck through positioning and effective stick work.

I think he can step in and fill O'byrne's big *** shoes for a time, and maybe even help us out on the PP. Nonetheless I hope for the speediest of recoveries for O'byrne so he can get back on the train and continue what looked like a start to a fantastic season.

Look at the positive side. If Gainey hadn't one out and gotten Mara, Gill and Spacek our D would look like this right now:

Hamlik - Gorges
Dandenault - Brisbois
Boo - Webber

EWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

:l oony::facep alm:

I can NOT believe people who don't think we have a much imporved dcorp this year!

Just look at last year, the unreal bad luck between the 1998-99-2001-02 seasons when we saw several near death injuries/sicknesses (Koivu, Audette, McLeary, Savage, etc) and record man-games-lost to injury totals, Koivu's ACL injury in 1996, etc.
My conclusion is that the Forum Ghosts are not over the move....

The kid was picked because of his strong two way play in the WHL, he is ready defensively and now it is a offensive comfort he needs to find which he did well in Hamilton last year.

chipchura would have to clear waivers to be sent down.

He can be sent down for a conditioning stint without clearing waivers.

It's a good character builder. If the team can go through it and stay among the top-eight teams in their conference, it will be awesome. I have a feeling they gonna do it.

Too bad Gainey decided not to re-sign guys like Lang and Bouillon, though.
