Update: 1:23 to go in the 3rd...3-1 Isles...

Asham from Bergenheim and Mapletoft on Caron...

:58 left...4-1 lead...empty netter by Hunter...

GAME OVER - Isles 4-1 victory...

Asham sounded like the standout and DiPietro made a 'great save' in the 3rd...Fata for Pens sounded like he played very well...

Pens were 1-9 on the PP....and we had a delay of game penalty too!

Beautiful, great to hear Dipietro got the .5 goose egg although I'm sure he wasn't tested as much as he could have been.

I love Asham, he's going to have a great year. I'm not just saying it because of this one game, I've felt it since mid-way through last season. He'll put up 25-25 and be a physical force as well. Good start.

DiPietro faced only one shot in the 2nd and 7 in the 3rd, but Pens didn't have a shot for about 10 minutes into the 3rd then turned on the steam...

4-1 Isles Notables...

http://www.newyorkislanders.com/game...ame091903.html

Three In the Third Ices Pens
Islanders 4, Penguins 1
*****************************************
I forgot how to do notables after all these months for
an actual game...... ok here goes.

KVASHA was not skating he ^^^&^%&^%&^%&%^&....kidding.

A delay of game penalty did have me blaming Laviolette for a few seconds.

I remember not too long ago the Isles had problems scoring any goals
in preseason, much less winning.

I guess Wheeling has some connections to Pittsburgh because Isles
seemed like the road team in their camp. Wheeling announcers did a
good job and much appreciated for them to do a game for the Isles
fans. Pens had their own webcast from their site so it was not necessary.

Seemed like the Isles had the more veteran lineup from what the
announcers said on the webcast a few times. I really barely knew who half the Pens were in the lineup these days...Fata, Sivek, Caron.

Was not paying much attention either.

It was a penalty filled game which I did not even tune into until late
in the first peirod. Wanted to hear a little hockey. Too many whistles.

Gervais had some shots from the point in the early part of the game.

No one got hurt, DiPietro did not give up a goal and had a very good
save when it was 2-1 and the Pens put on some late pressure.

The Pens got a pp goal against Snow just before the half-way mark and for the most part it seemed like a sloppy game. Godard took on Steve McKenna and according to the webcast got the shots in late and the takedown.

Blake had a pp goal from Niinimaa and Scatchard about a minute after
Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead.

Papineau had the game winner on a shot that sounded like Caron should have stopped from the way the call was made. Who knows?

Only time I heard Bergenheim's name all night was when he got an
assist on a goal from Asham on a one-timer with about a minute left.
I looked at the lineups to see if he was scratched.

Hunter had the empty net goal almost immediately afterward. Isles had the shot advantage. Bates seemed to be involved a lot.
