From confirmed to speculation to confirmed in what, two minutes? Where's the 750k figure coming from? Cause that's a number you can't complain about. Maybe MAB's smart enough to know that at a low cap hit he's more likely to stick in the NHL after Markov comes back. If RDS is reporting it, it's pretty much sure to be true, but I'd like to know the details.

-edit: And heading back to speculation quite possibly, it seems.

Yes, yes, we know how important it is to most to have another francophone on the team, but MAB... please !

If it was so important to keep Franco on the team they would have kept Bouillon, Dandenault, Bégin. etc etc.
And if it was so important to have franco, MAB would have been signed in the off-season.

The thread says confirmed !
One guy said that McGuire said there haven't been any talks between the habs and MAB. If he did indeed say that, then what McGuire said is false at this moment, as RDS is more reliable than he is.

You are right, though, should be switched to rumour.

My freakin head is spinning.

Ok I'm going to leave this as speculation until further notice.

None of these links actually confirm anything. Just that they are talking. How did this become official?

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Bergeron's agent (or someone close to him) probably leaked this rumor himself to put more pressure on Gainey.

It's not, Until one of the big media outlets says it's done. It's unconfirmed as far as I'm concerned.

There has been no confirmation from any legit source.

There's still no confirmation. Best case scenario, this is a rumor, hopefully if this is actually true, he gets signed for a year at near minimum.
I'd much prefer to see Weber, and give some chances to Carle and Subban.

I suppose he can help our PP... but the guy is a MAJOR liability 5 on 5.

Hopefully a great defensive coach like Martin will recognize this quickly and use him sparingly (IE- PP only and maybe an odd shift other than that...).

I also hope Weber will be given the first crack at minutes... he's better at this point and it's better for developing him in the future.

Should this come to fruition, I don't really see any problem with it. Assuming he comes cheap enough, is there really a better option out there? At this point in the game, I don't know where you are going to get someone stellar on the pp and in their own end, without having to give up assets. He is a stop gap, and we would be getting him for money instead of having to give up a draft pick/prospects to some team for a defenceman that will have his faults as well.

With that said, I would hope that if they bring him in he is there for insurance. I would much rather them give Weber every opportunity to succeed, and only turn to Bergeron if the pp can't get going.

I agree. Until RIS or RDS confirms a contract was signed, It may still never happen...

You forgot one. Eklund is a legit source on HF. So your precious "Bob" isn't the only good journalist, mister.

lol, don't ask.

Edit: I was sent the information from a poster regarding MAB written by one of Eklund's bloggers. I went and took a look at the link myself, and even he is not confirming this signing.
