Shanny on waivers

I haven't seen Shanny enough last year (or even this year) to have an enlightened opinion on him...
Any of you think he would help us?

With all due respect to him and his great career, time for him to pull a Sundin and Sakic and retire.

I'd like him to work with Pacioretty and develop him into a true power forward, but he just cant skate anymore.

He's had an amazing career, but unfortunately he's done... He would've been good 3 years ago when we tried to get him!

2/3 years yes.
Today. No. He isnt even in Jerseys top plan in the top two lines.. I dont think he would be usefull here unless hes on the 3rd line with Lapierre and Latendresse.. but there is no way he'd come here to be on the 3rd line.

well i think he could help on the right line... he is no longer a 1st line guy....
do we even have the cap space to make this work as well?
even if he wanted on the 3rd line?

3rd line or retirement i'm sure he'd choose 3rd line..

I would honestly gamble on him. We don't have a clear 2nd line aside from Pleks. Andrei looks like a zombie, Pacioretty could use more seasoning, D'Agostini isn't anything special (yet, if at all), and Sergei we have no idea if we'll ever see him again. Shanahan would honestly be a low risk gamble that could put heat on the neck's of our supposed 2nd line, or if none other, he could show Gui and Pacman a thing or two. Worst case scenario -- we waive him. I'd invest thought into this, but really we could take him or leave him and probably be in a similar boat as we are now

Agreed, TBH the Habs desperately need someone on the 2nd line who can make something happen. Andrei is a useless lump, Pleks is playing decently but doesn't really have the offensive acumen to bring serious secondary scoring, while Patches or Dagger are basically rookies half lost out there.

Shanahan could really pay off adding some veteran presence, consistency and acumen to the line. If he doesn't it's a no-loss situation anyways.

Cuz of the 2-0 start I don't think people are realizing how weak our 2nd line really is at the moment, the 1st line is good, but that's not enough and we can't rely on 3rd line + Gorges + Price to win every game.

I would have been against it last year, but I wouldn't object if Gainey wanted to give him a chance now. I don't know if he can still play or not, but I don't like having Pacioretty, Latendresse, or D'Agostini in our top six right now and Sergei is no longer an option.

Shan age + Chelios age = 87 years

Cammelleri jersey number = 13

87+13 = 100

100 = centennial season

conclusion: **** Shan

He never wanted to play with us

classy guy

could be our lang this year
hes still able to score some goalscorer goals

i respect him id give him a go
cant be bad for our rookies

notice that every good team who win the cup has some old seasoned vet who's on the end of their career and who's getting his last chance ever to win something

this is the best motivation in sports

3rd line duty, sure. Anything else, pass.

edit: even 3rd line is pushing it.

As mentioned they are two greats that just retired this season so hence my use of their names.
