Halak lovers are all in denial tonight ? We lost because he didn't make the big save like Price has been doing. That's it that's all !
Like if it's possible in the new NHL for the Calgary ****in Flames to play 60 minutes without a penalty ! NHL = Joke !
Well I wouldn't say the game is entirely his fault but you can tell he learned from Huet. Just bad timing on goals and not willing to battle to make the big save.
You gotta lose at some point. Had the refs not blown the whistle so fast when they though Kipper had the puck, this would've been a totally different game.
Gill is so random. At some times, he looks so poised. At others, he can't make a pass to save his life.
Plekanec, Cammalleri, Gomez, Gionta, and Mara were awesome.
Moen was very good too.
Chipchura was decent for his first game of the year.
Halak was alright. He played good, but even if two of the goals were deflected about a foot in front of him, for us to win, he's got to find a way to save them. I though the first goal was easily savable - the other three would have been amazing to have any of them - but if he wants to be a #1 in this league, he's got to find a way to stop them.
Stewart should skip the AHL and go to the ECHL. What a pathetic game.
Pacioretty IS NOT ready and I've been saying that since forever. Send him down.
Our defense is so.. bleh.. without Markov. Mara was the only really good one tonight, IMO.
I think that Halak should have saved the 4th one. I know it was a deflection from close in front, but he was cheating to the far side. The puck shouldn't have been able to sneak through the near side.
Not a bad game by Halak but he needs to be bigger in his net and challenge those point shots. If he does, those tip ins hit him rather then the back of the net.
Montreal played a solid game, fell asleep in the second but dominated third.
Can't win them all and this has to be encouraging.
Gill is so random. At some times, he looks so poised. At others, he can't make a pass to save his life.
Agreed, he's really hard to gauge. He'll make a great play to seperate an opponent from the puck, and then seemingly bend over backwards to give it back to him.
But on the other hand, with Markov and O'Byrne out, we're obviously forced to use Gill above his capacity. You can see that he'd be really good in a smaller role, but unfortunately we can't afford to give him one at the moment.
Even if we lost this game was our best until now.
Plekanec was amazing. He was all over the ice and he was able to free up space on the bid D that Calgary have.
Kostitsyn shot alot and his shot was good shot but he still need to pick up is game together.
Pacioretty should be in hamilton, S.kost should be with the habs.
Halak played a meh.. game, not bad not good.
Gionta-Gomez-Camallerri played very good hockey and had a ton of chance, the same for Moen-Laps-Lats.
Weber was very good, he gaved the disc once to the oponent but thats all. Is shot was prematured too but in general I was happy with is play.
Dont forget that calgary is a very good team and that the refs did alot of mistake that penalized us... (when the ref stopped the play when the puck was in = 4-4... the missed penalty on gomez when he was obstructed.)
But in general it was our best game.
Funny faq all of our goals where scored with less than 1:30 left in the period.
Andrei is slowly showing more and more glimpses of what he can do. I feel he will soon get hot and this team will score a tonne of goals for a stretch.
Why is it after every single lost you blame thr ref's.. Hell, there was one penalty called so both teams got away with alot..Man, it's really unbelieveable and so old!!!
make no mistake about it halak can be a very good goalie BUT he has problems if he does two things...he's on his knees and too far in the crease..that happened on a couple of goals...if he had been more aggressive he would've had a better chance on the tip ins...and on his knees he leaves too much net
No points, but definitely an encouraging game. The Habs have been reliant on special teams for so long that it's refreshing to see them battle like that when they're not getting any calls. Our teams of the recent past would've given up after 30 minutes without a powerplay and let the Flames ram the game down their throats. It's a work ethic that we haven't seen out of Montreal in a long, long time.
It's very rare you can break down a game as simple as this:
Their 4th line simply ate alive our 4th line and that was the difference tonight in this game. If Metropolit is healthy, I am fairly convinced we are either in OT or celebrating a win right now.
I think that Halak should have saved the 4th one. I know it was a deflection from close in front, but he was cheating to the far side. The puck shouldn't have been able to sneak through the near side.
Which is why in the GDT thread, I said weak goal.
It looked like it may have been deflected twice, but his positioning was poor. If he was in position and it still went in then I'd be a lot more forgiving.
The 3rd goal he had no chance on. The 2nd, he almost made the save - the positioning was great, but it got deflected right in front.
I still think, overall, he was good. He just wasn't as good as this team is going to need him to be to win games. And that goes for Price too. It's a lot to ask of young players, but we don't have an offensively explosive club - and we are going to need our goalies to have a GAA under 2.50 if we want to be a playoff club.
As has been said, it was his first game action all year and he's coming off shoulder surgery. Cut him some slack. It's easy to cherrypick stats, but the first goal was on Hamrlik and the fourth one was on Laraque.
Chipchura gets his last shot at the NHL with the habs and...
He manage to be -3 in less than 5min of play...
Send him down to Hamilton don't give a damn if a team claim that slow, lazy, hearthless dude... Anyway Metropolit is 100 times better than Chip will ever be...
Gill...is fine when he doesn`t overhandle the puck. Keep it simple Hal...
Weber...thought he was decent. Definately not out of place and competed.
Cammy-Gomez-Gionta...as I said in the game day thread, are going to score alot of goals this year. They`re always buzzing around the offensive zone creating turnovers by rushing the dmen`s play. I think the chemistry can get even better.
Akostitsyn...finally, a spark. Let`s hope this is the awakening
Plekanec...looked like 2007-2008 version of himself.
Strong game from Lats-Laps-Moen as well...¸
Halak...was good, but Habs needed him to be a bit better

pretty sure the other one was entirely stewarts fault x2. He managed to lose the puck twice inside 5 seconds.
