to what do we attribute Kopitar's fast start?

A bit disconcerting to see the PK fold like a chair, but at least they won. Kopitar's off season training really showing through, especially the race to the icing that set up Drewiske at the end.

Off topic: nice avatar kingsholygrail. Love the Lunar 2.

EDIT- Oh man, the Sharks broadcast studio team is laying into the Kings. The guy from the SF Chronicle talking about how the Sharks should have beat the Kings and says, and I quote, "...against a team that is going to struggle mightily to even be a playoff team this year."

Wow, I love it! And I love Davis Drewiske, what a great game he had.

We played fantastic up until that too many men penalty. That mental mistake really threw things off and gave the Sharks momentum. We were lucky that Purcell's shot went in. If we play at all like we played in the first 40 minutes, we will win a lot of games. PK needs a LOT of work though.

LoL I didn't notice the resemblance to Lucia from Lunar 2, but it's actually Misato from Evangelion.

8 different players have scored in our first 2 games. Not bad.

Agreed. Smyth was a good pickup for the Kings and excellent early chemistry with AK.

Kopitar is confident with his talent now, though. That goal of his was a great, great shot. Best goal of the early season so far, in my view.

Played much better overall than the opener. Still lots to improve. Our passing was much better, good transition, defense getting involved too.

2nd line was starting to click, very encouraging.

A win is a win!

Is O'Donnell not on the Pk a factor? And for the love of all kings fans, please do not put Williams on the Pk.

I think missing OD is throwing off the pairings in a noticeable manner. He'll be back Thursday for the Wild.

YES. UGLY, but a WIN. Loved how we were getting to the net, both bodies and pucks. I bet we're seeing the beginning of Smyth's influence.

I wonder if Purcell planned that last one. But, again, throwing it at the net was a good thing (goalies will let in easy ones from time to time).

it's nice to go away from a game a little frustrated but still get the win.

I didn't even think about that. O'D could have a big impact on the PK when he comes back, but it still should have been much better than it was.

Drewiske was the best dman on the ice IMO. Loved his game tonight, very happy for him after getting that empty netter.

PK needs work, but the Sharks have a nasty power play. Swirling and disorienting. I predict with Thornton, Heatley, Marleau, Setoguchi, Boyle they'll be right at the top of the league with a real juggernaut of a power play.

I double dare someone to start a sweet 'Kopi is on pace for..' thread on the main boards.

I'm just glad we didn't lose. This team still looks volatile as ****. Always nice to beat the sharks though
