I love that dead shark picture..Hahaha

I don't know if we were that terrible at the PK or if it was that Sharks were amazing in PP.

Still funny game and good win.

btw Williams needs a couple of games to show he earns that spot on 1:st line and Drewskie is superb...and blablablabla.

Congrats to Whiskey for his first NHL goal (even though it was an empty netter)

Not that it ultimately mattered, but I have a question anyway. Does the "a player is permitted accidental contact on an opponent if the act is committed as a normal windup or follow through of a shooting motion" portion of high sticking in the NHL rulebook truly only cover motions during an actual shot on goal? Are motions as a result of a pass not covered? (and, yes, I do know the rule specifically says "shooting motion".)

I'm thinking they are not, since passing motions should never result in the stick coming above shoulder level, but the Frolov double minor got me thinking.

2 things:

(Good win, needless to say)

1st - What do you all feel about Doughty this game? (I was about to say that he got less icetime than ever before... but hold on, he got 24 minutes!)

2nd - I can't really say that the PK was horrible. Not 0-4 horrible. The fact is taht the Sharks have an extremely deadly Powerplay. There was nothing we could do on the 1st and 4th goals. Maybe the 2nd goal, although the 3rd goal was a fault of the PK'ers.

the point being that with Heatley, Thornton Marleau and Setoguchi, as well as Boyle of couse, there is no way that we can contain all of that. We ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED them at even strength. Especially the "3rd line"

If Frolov doesn't take that high sticking penalty, the game ends at 5-2 or something, and the Sharks fans commit mass suicide

Williams is opening ice for Smyth and Kopitar who are playing very well. No problem so far with Williams right where he is.

A little bit of both. Sharks powerplay is too good, and our PK is too horrible.

I thought he handled the Blake goal poorly, but didn't really notice him otherwise. Probably a good thing.

I thought the PK was bad bad bad though. Way too passive.

No! Don't remove Simmonds from that line, they are working fantastically. Plus, that line is basically our 2nd line anyway, the only reason they are our 3rd line is because they are the defensive specialist line.

I def think Smyth has had a pos impact on Kopitar. You can see it when they're out there together. Kopi's goal was just brilliant!

Oh and how about Ivanans standing up for Drewiske after that illegal hit? I know a lot of people on these boards dont like him but he did his job tonight and well! He threw a couple good ones to Shelly and looked like he was ready for more! I dont think a guy like Clune could have done that. At least not yet.

Yeah it was a pass by Frolov, that penalty was the Kings worst luck of the night because they did have to call it yet you really can't fault Frolov.

Here is one thing about the Kings PK.

I do believe that aggressive PK's are the way that the NHL is going, and that the passive PK is declining as an effective strategy.

Notice the Kings powerplay. They always do well against a passive PK, *such as Minnesota and San Jose* but tend to suck ass against aggressive powerplays *such as the Islanders and the Avalanche*

Clune is nowhere near Shelley's weight class. I have no problem playing Ivan... when the team we are playing calls for it. If we are playing a team with no heavyweight at all, I don't see any reason for Ivan to be out there. So far this season, he isn't as bad though. That weight he dropped seems to have sped him up significantly and he isn't hooking someone every shift.

That was a great game, a horrible game and a great game again. Can't beat 10 goal games in HD. I even noticed a subtle outfit change by Heidi Androl. And I have Kopitar and Doughty on my fantasy team.

The whole system is passive. Very safety first. I don't like it either. Let's have more puck pursuit, get some forecheck in there.
