Yeah but it wasn't till he had been back in Europe for a couple months we found out his wife wasn't doing well and hadn't been for a while. Things like that can mess with your mind and your game.

Also, he's on pace for 82 points.
Him and Upshall are two of my favorite players, i always wanted that tandem on the flames. I really hope he has a great season for you guys, and who knows, he can come back to Calgary as a free-agent

You say that now, but the first time you see a forward blow by them and score, you may not be too happy. Vandermeer is a warrior, and generally has good position, most flames fans were happy with his play, but his Cap-hit was too much for a 5-6th D-man. Aucoin will be a good PP QB for you guys, and was pretty good last year. He still has a cannon from the point, but his lack of mobility will hurt you.

From a Coyote standpoint Aucoin & Vandermeer replace Morris & David Hale (technically Klee, but he retired and Hale was under contract for another year with the Coyotes).

Aucoin and Morris is basically a wash....Neither is particularly mobile, both with excellent leadership, Morris the better outlet passer, a tad tougher, Aucoin as you say a good PP QB with a cannon.

Vandermeer (or a bag of pucks) vs Hale is a landslide victory for the Coyotes...

whatever Aucoin's deficiencies, Coyote fans just have to think of David Hale and Aucoin will be forgiven.

Don't forget Lepisto. We definitely upgraded the D. Aucoin, Vandermeer, Lepisto > Morris, Klee, Hale. No question.

Does anyone know where I can find the starting line-up from the last season opener? I'd like to have a look and see how the average age, and years of experience stacks up. Also, while the coaching staff, defense, and goaltending(Bryz has a year of experience and Burke to work with) has clearly been upgraded, I'd like to compare our current forward group with the one the opened last season.

Hmm you could use Yahoo's game by game log in the player profiles.. like Shane Doan played all 82 games last year.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/...vLYF?year=2008

Click on the result of the season opener to get the box score and player data..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/boxscore...gid=2008101124

Can use hockeydb.com to give you the player ages at the start of that season.

That's what computers are for

Hope the site's going to continue doing 09-10 games.

As long as you can get access to the raw text like here:
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...0/TV020023.HTM
it's not too difficult to put something together if you're familiar with Perl, using its libraries to aid ripping and parsing HTML formatted data.

Looks like the timeonice site has a Firefox plugin to directly pull the games from NHL.com [see bottom of page], might have to load that up if they don't update the site for the 09-10 season.
