The difference between the two guys is the intensity....Ivanans had it in the ECHL, the AHL, and in his first season with the Kings he was mean and instigated...he got his one year extension and then his two year deal and got passive...especially last year...prob his worst as a King...more penalties and less fighting.

Westgarth is outgoing on the bench, instigates and gets pumped up and gets the crowd and his teammates pumped. He has an aura to him that some fighters just have, a charisma....a lot of these new guys from the AHL seem to have it, Riley Cote, Joel Rechlicz, and Steve MacIntyre....they just go out looking for fights, stand up for there teammates at any sign of a cheap hit and aren't afraid to go toe to toe or get thrown out of the game.

Ivanans did nothing to Artukhin but challenge him to a fight, he did nothing to Malkin after the elbow on Simmonds. Colton Orr leveled Ovechkin after Brashear took a run at a Ranger a few years ago and wouldn't fight Orr...if a dude cheap shots your teammate you either fight him, jump him, or take out one of there best players...Even Lombardi said that in regards to Artuyhkin....if he wants to run Doughty then we run St. Louis or Lecavlier....and no one did.

I remember Parros a few seasons ago jumping Eager when Ben threw a late hit on Pronger...no questions asked, just shed the mits and started throwing...When has Ivanans done that? Last night? First time in 3 years.

yeah but it was awesome. i just went back and rewatched the fight. if there is indeed some chemistry and comraderie building in the locker room and off the ice, it's then that the team builds an identity. i'm fine with ivanans if more of this is happening and a bit more instigating, no more waiting for people to agree to fight you(at the appropriate times obviously).

Loktionov named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week

Quote:
The American Hockey League announced today that Manchester Monarchs center Andrei Loktionov has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 4, 2009.

In his professional debut on Oct. 3, the 19-year-old Loktionov scored three goals and picked up an assist to help Manchester to a 6-3 road victory over the Albany River Rats. He assisted on the first goal of the game before scoring twice later in the first period, and capped the hat trick with a key insurance goal midway through the third. Loktionov finished with a plus-4 rating and a game-high six shots on goal.

The AHL has wacky scheduling like that all season long. They draw more fans on weekends so they play on weekends. They also have several 4 games in 5 nights stretches in their schedule.

Not sure if this is the place for Ontario Reign comments, but a name from the past scored for them Thursday night-Greg Hogeboom. The once prized Kings prospect must be making a comeback, I wish him luck.

Loki's line was the offense today even though he didn't get any points. Parse 2 A, Moller 1+1 and Bagnall with 1+1. Loktionov centering Parse and Moller, good to see that line succeeding early on since all 3 players are being counted on to produce. Parse had done well in college when he was paired with other talented forwards. Now he's on a line with the 2 most offensive players on the team. His time is now or never IMO.

I've always liked Parse for whatever reason. And I believe he's a natural LW.

I realize it's very early and Parse has yet to score a goal, but that doesn't change the fact that he's currently leading the Monarchs in scoring with 5 points on 5 assists!!!

But are those points solely attributed to the fact that Moller & Loktionov are gifted goal-scorers?

It's almost like what's happening with the Islanders. LoL, they've got Matt Moulson playing left of Tavares. Watch Moulson put together a 70-point season!

Can't forget about the one and only Drew Bagnall. Parse is riding his coattails as well.

Parse is a never was. He really screwed the pooch with his Kings career when he signed with Grand Rapids instead of Manchester out of college.
