Well O'Byrne is out for 8 weeks, so that's 2 MONTHS. I guess it's an insurance policy incase Webber doesn't do well of if there's another injury.

To be honest I don't know anything about MAB so I can only assume Bob, Pierre and Jacques know more than I do an made the best signing possible.

What I find interesting is now will S. Kosty be traded. I mean what better timing to trade him for an NHL ready defenceman then now, or in a couple of weeks after playing in Hamilton. I mean even MAB is going to Hamilton on a conditioning stint so it's not like Gainey couldn't have waited. It just makes me think that S. Kosty isn't going to be traded now.

Absolutely LOVE this signing.

Low risk, high reward signing. You just CAN'T be against that.

Naysayers should just shut up already, First it's ''waahhh we don't have enough quebecers'' then it's ''but but but the d-men we just signed for dirt cheap isn't good enough defensively to fill the huge gap left by 2 regular injured for months''

he'll be just fine, people. Shut up already with your criticism you'll whine soon enough when he makes his first mistake.

Okay,

we pay 750,000 for one year for a french vet defencemen vet after losing two regulars ones... no trade, no lost...

Why somebody complains... weber not playing? He is... now... If Bergeron is better, let's the better player plays... MAB can be send up, down... what even...

Just imagine that he is good and the fact that he is a 1 points by 2 games defencemen continues...

BG is playing safely on a low risk decision. MAB is not Markov, be is better than nothing...

Wow, that's an excellent player comparison. Bergeron is probably a little quicker, but they both have the monster slapshot and the defensive liabilties. Really good call!

I really dont know MAB but I was wondering.

If MAB is playing good on the PP and a bit better than he usually do defensively what do you think our D would look like. Because for now I think we have a problem with hal gill, this guy is slow and can't get the puck out of his territory so we loose precious minute.

Could we see something like this:

Hamrlik-Spacek (good duo against calgary)
Mara-Weber
Gorges-MAB

Like I said I know nothing about MAB but I prefer seeing a defensemen who is a liability in his territory but can help on the PP (MAB)
Than a defensemen who is a liability in his territory and can't help on the PP (Hal Gill)

Welcome back Brisb.......ermmm i mean MAB

Not sure how Martin will use him but i can already predict that the guy will be a scapegoat before the new year. Personally if i was JM i'd use him only and i mean ONLY on the PP. I want nothing to do with MAB being anywhere close the defensive zone.

You must've been dreaming if you though you were getting that Bergeron.

Good thing he didn't play for us tonight, or else it would have just been a waste.

But then again, what do I know... You're the one who's the realist.
i agree we need to use him correctly

but you know this kind of player gets hated by fans really quickly when you demand too much, like brisebois

but i think that the fact the fan base his raising some doubts about his venue with the team should not be considered as whining, it is justified imo

I dont think we need to see him play games with a habs jersey before giving opinion on this player, or on any player

have a good day

Great signing that will pay off even more once Markov gets back. This guy has one hell of a shot.

He needs to throw one of those big hip checks the first game he plays in a Habs uniform.

I'm willing to bet a lot of V Cash that most of the people complaining about
MAB have not seen him play very much.

I think they are just repeating the opinions of others.
Just like they did when we signed Gionta.
People were whining & crying about it - too much $$$, too long a contract.
Now everybody loves him.

I am not saying that MAB is amazing - I have not seen him play enough to make that call. But you can't deny that he has a booming 100 MPH slap shot that will help our PP.

For $750,000 a year and no assets lost in a trade I think it is a great signing that will help us win some games until O'B and Markob return.

If we want to make the playoffs we need to get a lot of wins early in the season.
He should contribute to that...

There really is very little risk with this signing. I wanted the habs to get this guy when the powerplay was struggling last year before Schneider.

His rate of goals is quite impressive. I just averaged his overall career stats, and his rate of goals is a nice 15 per 82 games played. Look forward to seeing him on our pp.

mab is a good signing for one year. with our current situation, its a good call. our pp needs a big gun back there and he has proven he can score at the nhl level. for whatever shortcomings he has, his D pairing is important and i think just play him in situations that cater to his strengths and we'll be all for the better. webber still needs ahl time and i prefer not to rush him.

We need him for the powerplay. If he can work miracles there, put him on the ice on a limited basis. Maybe he can be another Streit for us.

Weber has looked awful, hopefully MAB can be somewhat of an upgrade...

wow, great signing - much needed.
awesome speed, shot and hip checks!

There is some good depth at D now, especially when Markov comes back.

If only could say same for the forwards!
Will be happy when MaxP and Stewart go back to Hamilton, if only there were a couple of capable fwds to replace them. SK47 can not be far from returning.
