John Stevens vs Peter Laviolette

Who would you like to see behind Flyers bench?

I admit I don't know enough about Laviolette to make a judgement, but I might give Laviolette an edge here.

Either way, I won't vote yet.

Laviolette is a good coach, and before the season he was fired he was well thought of around the league. (I remember HFboards specifically regarded him quite high)

Though, he always took a very non-aggressive approach to coaching, I don't know if his laissez-faire style would fit in Flyerdom. He specifally used to tell his players not to fight or instigate, and if anyone remembers, a lot of teams took liberties with Carolina's players because of it.

That being said, I think i'd feel more comfortable with most other coaches but Stevens right now.

Can I just vote Not John Stevens? This team will never win anything anyone actually cares about with him behind the bench.

If June comes around and we're all going to a parade I'll gladly set up a stage, write out my words, and eat them for all of you.

Laviollette turned a horrible D core into a cup

Stevens can barely win with a great D core.

Laviollette. As Hovercraft pointed out, he took a mediocre defense core and turned it into a Stanley Cup champion. Eric Staal, Justin Williams, Erik Cole, Ray Whitney and countless others also had their best overall seasons under Laviollette. Not worried about the no fighting approach. I'm sure his stance has changed a bit on that.

Cam Ward's play was incredible. Made the defense look better then they were.

My vote went to Laviolette as well, however I want it on record that my vote would have went to anyone other then John Stevens. I midget goat from Istanbul would have gotten my vote over him.

being since im probably the only flyers fan who goes to hurricane games because i live in the south, dont get this lavy thing twisted.... he took over a team paul maurice built. and his " horrible d core" consisted of kaberle, ward, hedican, and commodore.... it never was horrible. he did nothing pass that championship. hes available for a reason.

Obviously I voted Lavi....Who knows if he is the right one, but I know Stevens isnt.

Maybe a poll with more options?

Peter Laviolette got washed ups to perform

Sorry to say this but Brind'Amour was washed up when he left us and performed way past his level for Laviolette. He also got Justin Williams to perform better then any other coach since as well as their Goalies who have not performed as well since.
Perhaps he can do something with this well mixed bunch.
Give him a chance then start judging. Any other coach would not have gotten Carolina a winning record let alone to the playoffs and Cup.
