The Kings came up with the LAPD thing and had a poster night to promote it which ended up being one of the last times they actually played together due to injuries.

True... although its not like LGK is or was the gospel There was a short overlap period, but the name did come around towards the end of their run together.

I was actually wondering, since I wasn't born yet, how long did it take for the Triple Crown Line to get that name? Was it immediate, or after a few games, or after a season? Did it just spurn up from fan talk or did someone on the Kings coin the term?

I don't recall who coined or bestowed the name upon them, (I think it was an announcer) but it was being used while the players were still playing together. Then Simmer had to go and suffer a horrible fracture of his leg, and, IIRC, he had a couple average years before returning to form for a year, only to be traded the next year to Boston.

Quite right. Although, it was mildly shocking when the FoxSports announcer (IIRC it was that one guy...the John Tesh-look-alike) that actually used the phrase on the air. At that point, for whatever reason, I started noticing people at the games using it...

I knew that....but I think he is giving Williams way too much credit....I think an mannequin could play with Smyth and Kopitar and they would be just as good.

Williams was pretty invisible to me in the San Jose game but he was great last night. He looked a lot faster than he had previously but your point is probably true.

What about "The Lords of the Rink" line (lame, I know)

Looks like this is long over, onto the next GDT! You can debate the line with no name there.
