AO on Backstrom: "Not everyone understands how good he is"

In a swedish interview with Ovechkin today.

Quote:
Backstrom was a good center, but now he is a fantastic center. I dont think that everyone understands how good he is, and that will continue. It is good when the opponents dont understands. haha

Autotranslate:

Ovechkin to Sportbladet about the secret of the NHL's hottest duo
PHILADELPHIA. They were inspired when they went to the basketball together and saw how NBA stars were in the happy moments.

So now even my friends are celebrating Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Bäckström each victory with a common hope - and a höftbump.

- We have a lot of fun together. That is why it is so good for us, "explains" Ovie "when Sportbladet hits the NHL's two points kings.

NHL season has not lasted more than a week and only three rounds are complete. But now it seems more or less assumed that the radar pair Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Bäckström towards a completely sensational year.

Common sense of humor
"Ovie" is number one in the scoring leaders with five goals and four assists - and "Bäckis" runner-up with eight assists. As if that were not enough, is the third link in Washington's super-chain, Alexander Semin, third with four goals and three assists.

Explanation?

Yes, as the Lord himself revealed the secret of the picture next door - the one on which his best friends do höftbump.

The joy that can be seen there, the camaraderie and the common sense of humor in such a show-piece holds, is the very basic tenet of the Washington Capital's success in recent years.

- It must be fun to perform and we have really, "says superstar Alexander Ovechkin and the lighthouses of its patented, semi-toothless grin and irresistible when we meet him in the dressing room before yesterday's 5-6-loss against sworn enemy Flyers in Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

"Like to socialize"
- Our entire team is based on the idea. There are a lot of laughter and smiles here. But yes, I and "Nick" is perhaps the most fun. We thrive very well together, both when we play and when we do other things.

The picture is confirmed by "Bäckis".

- Yes, it's a great atmosphere throughout the team but just the two of us have been right near each other. We like to hang out and have a lot of common interests.

Basketball, for example.

And so it was during a NBA game at home in the Verizon Center, which also houses the Washington Wizards, the duo found their victory gesture.

- We saw that some of the guys did the thing at times and thought it looked a bit cool out. So we took after. Though it is only when we win we do it, after the final whistle.

"Löjlar us"
When the coils are on the case forward - which of course is almost evenly - it becomes more public uproar.

- Yes, when vetifan what we do. We just löjlar us, "said Nicky with a wry smile.

Well, Washington's wild - and controversial - måljubel well just another manifestation of the fruit the same joy in the squad.

- Fixed it doing so well now is that even if we begin to know each other very well on the ice, out "Bäckis".

"Great Center"
- We are in our chain has basically been playing together for three seasons now. This will take some things as well as of himself. Then they involved decently talented too, so to speak.

It would, however, they do not talk so much about - unless you ask one of them comment on the other. Then they become all the more happy talk.

- Oh, "said Ovechkin, and lit up again," Nick "was a good center is already past. Now he is a great centers. I do not think any really understood how good he is. And so may it continue. It is good when the opponents do not get it, ha ha.

"Bäckis' description of" Ovie "is no less lyrical.

- He can do incredible things. But we are on the team are not surprised anymore. We see him every day and know he is fantastic.

The question is how long companion spirit, joy and talent lead.

Screeners at the Stanley Cup
It RUMOR some quarters already on the Caps are predestined to win the Stanley Cup this spring,

- He he, it is perhaps to take in. One of the reasons we started so well this year is that we were tired of the slow start had the previous seasons. Last year we were just lazy. There we decided to change. Fixed ... yes, of course we are aiming to go as far as possible. We do not want it to end as early as last year, according to Backstrom.

His Russian friends are on the same line.

- I've been training extra hard this summer and put on me a few more pounds. And I have done to win. I'm hungry, "said Ovechkin.

That has got to be the greatest auto-translate line since Ilya Kovalchuk talked about playing for the great woodpeckers and competing for the rod of failures.

He is now the scoring leader of the NHL. 10 points in 4 games, quite a different story from last year, when he got of slow. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 95-100 points this season.

Backstrom is an amazing player. Incredible vision, strength, smarts, slick passing and completely unselfish. He is a gem.

As a Rangers fan, I love the guy, and wish the Rangers had him. He does everything on the ice, and while playing with Ovechkin certainly helps his point totals, he's not just leaching off Ovechkin.

Though you have to admit his first goal last night was lucky

The second goal was a fantastic one timer, right into the upper corner of the next from 3 feet away, Lundqvist had no chance at all. No one in the league saves that

If he can develop his physical game, shot, and get a mean streak - he'll be one of the best players in the world in a couple of years - right up there with Ovy.
