Christian Backman says in Swedish media that he refused a deal with Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, so I guess that means Bergeron wasn't Bobs top priority.

I'm glad we have him so that finally people can stop suggesting we sign/trade for him. I'm hoping he's all that but if he's no better than Weber, I'd rather give Weber the minutes.

While I have serious issues with mab's defensive reads, he cant be any worse than weber right now. Its an upgrade by default.

Well, he still is at +3 during his hole NHL career. It's not that bad for a player who played 339 games, including 2 seasons in NYI.

He seems to have a really good slapshot. I hope he will be usefull on our PP! Seems to be able to hit too.

He has probably one of the best slapshots in the league...

He'll probably play against Colorado, though he's suppose to join the team on the weekend, so it could be as soon as Saturday when he gets his game with the habs ?

Really anxious to hear how he plays tonight. I hope that he and Sergei have monster games so that Sergei can get called up and Maxpac can go back to the 4th line to play with Metro and Laraque.

I doubt that MAB plays on saturday against edmonton without even getting a practice in with the team but you never know.

To add to this. Bergeron played with Laraque in Edmonton and Moen in Anaheim, even though Berg was only there briefly.

Interestingly, he was also a Bulldog for a couple years as a member of the Oilers, back when they shared the team.

Bergeron looks better as the game went on. He was making some great first pass. He made some bad decisions with the puck in the 1st period. He'll be called up soon.

I would not be surprised to see him being called up for the first game in Montreal... especially if the Habs get another meltdown in Edmonton tonight.

All this talk of MAB helping us on the Powerplay....I have a feeling we will be on the PK much more than on the PP...sigh....hard times my friend...hard times...anyways first few games in...things will change...

Pair him up with Hamrlik and I think he'll do OK defensively. We all know he struggles in that area of his game, but he'll definitely help our PP, and for the price... I'd say it's a good signing.
