So Salo dislocates his arm after a routine slapshot in the Playoffs

And now he tweaks his knee after a routine collision?

Time to hang em up this year.

No confirmation about the injury or its severity yet, all speculation so far.

I'd settle with "shatter resistant" or even "streak free".

The good thing is if it is only a tweak, the Canucks do not play again until Friday.

The Canucks have today off so probably there will be an injury update on Salo on Tuesday.

Right now the guess diagnosis is MCL sprain which would be 2-4 weeks.

btw, seeing 4 injury report thread in the top 6 or 7 threads SUCKS

Just wondering, do we know if Salo's ever gone outside the organization for advice on his ailments and/or conditioning? It doesn't seem like the worst idea in the world, given that things sure as hell don't seem to be working out with whatever the Canucks' staff has him doing.

The thing with Salo is it isn't a recurring injury like with Gaborik or Forsberg, he has a different injury each time so I don't think a specialist or anything could help. Last time he hurt his knee it was his left knee, this time it's his right. It's just his body, it's not built to take contact.

Some reporters on twitter so take it for what it's worth. Then again Botchford was accused of raising alarm about Daniels broken foot when it wasn't confirmed but ended up being right. I'm guessing reporters heard initial diagnosis from docs and are just waiting for MRI to confirm, which will happen tomorrow.

From Schneider's own blog written on 10 October 2009:
Quote:
Getting to some hockeyÖ the rehab has been going great and Iím feeling really good and practicing with the team everyday. I havenít been able to get out of the rink in under three hours too much these days so Iíve been putting in a lot of time here, which is good.

Iím looking forward to getting into the lineup soon, hopefully by the end of the month.

Right now, itís really about taking it one week at a time and I havenít had any setbacks, everythingís been really positive and Iím getting stronger so thereís no reason to believe I canít be in by the end of the month but itís something Iíll discuss with the doctors and the trainers.

I love Salo, but I think the defense needs to be entirely overhauled next season. Get rid of everybody save for Edler and Ehrhoff (and maybe Bieksa depending on if he stops acting like Jovo).

I wasn't a proponent of getting Bouwmeester, but man that would have really settled down the defence had we done it. Who else is available that's a #1 defenceman? That seems to be a scarcity in the league these days.

Source says he most likely has sprained MCL. Since it's holiday today, he has to get MRI tomorrow.

Good news for #Canucks fans: Salo most likely does not have torn ACL - worst possible scenario.

Could have sworn there were a few more reporters saying the same thing...

Thanks.

I pretty much discount anything Hosea Cheung (24 daily newspaper) has to say as he has been wrong often in the past. His record is nearly as bad as Eklund.

with the emergence of Edler and Ehrhoff as efficient powerplay quarterbacks (to go along with Bieksa), this injury hurts the team less than it would have last year.

Jesus. Salo can't handle office work, let alone NHL hockey. A stapler would hurt him.

I generally make it a practise to check out the background of the reporter if it is not someone that I am familiar with.

For example I always pretty much discount anything Matt Sekeres of the Globe and Mail writes about the Canucks as he has terrible track record. His stories invariably begin "Unnamed sources say..." - probably because he really has no sources.

That would get him tasered by RCMP here in Vancouver.

It's time for some Rome.

Ehrhoff and Edler played over 26 minutes each last night. Looked pretty good doing it as well.

Ehrhoff is particularly looking like a monster as he has yet to finish a game in the minus (for those worrying about his +/- on the Sharks). And has had his ice-time increased each of the last three games. Looks like the coaching staff likes him.
