Tor-NJD

I know this is blasphemy, but me and a friend were talking and we came up with it and thought it would be interesting to see what HFboards thought.

TOR-

LW Jiri Tlusty 855,000$
Matt Stajan 1,750,00$
Jimmy Hayes
D Ian White 850,000$
Vesa Toskala 4,000,000$

NJD-
Martin Brodeur 5,200,000

NJD get a reasonable goaltender in vesa toskala who perhaps is getting shoved out of toronto and doesnt play well in the spotlight of toronto, see coliacovo/steen, and may play extremely well in the tight defensive system of NJ. Tlusty is a stud ahl prospect who needs a bit more seasoning but is a realistic replacement for elias. Stajan is a solid top6 centerman who can slot behind zajac in #2. Jimmy hayes is a big strong right winger who is in NCAA and was projected to be a first round pick, increases NJ's rightwing depth and size. Ian white is a solid top4 puckmoving defenseman with grit.

Toronto gets a stud goaltender, someone who could play for the next 2-3 years and hand the reigns over to gusty. Brodeur would be a solid calming influence on toronto and may even stabilize the entire team.

What does HFboards think?

New Jersey would NEVER do that, even for all the Leafs team.

You can't make a trade like that.

This is the funniest proposal I've ever seen on HFBoards. If you were at least being serious you would send at least four of Kessel, Kadri, Schenn, Gustavsson and Stalberg.

I think you should delete your post immediately before the rest of the board sees it.

The value isn't terrible, but I think you'd need to give up something that hurt a bit more, like Stalberg instead of Tlutsy. But NJ is never trading Brodeur.

You honestly think you'll get our hall of famer with that package? Try the rest of your farm team, swap Toskala with Gustavsson and maybe then we'll talk.

If you offered them Schenn, Kadri, Kessel, and 4 1st rounders 2012-2015 Lou still still hangs up

You would have to start with Schenn, Kessel and picks and even those won't get you Marty.

How come every Leafs proposal involves giving a large (4-5 player) package of absolute crap for a good player?

Are you kidding me? Kessel, Schenn, Kadri and FOUR 1sts? You think that Lou wouldn't instantly get canned if he rejected that?

I honesly think he would be stupid not to take it, but you have to realize what kind of respect Lou gives to his players. No offence he wouldn't ship Brodeur out to a franchise like the Leafs after what Marty has done for the Devils franchise. I know it sounds crazy but that's the way he operates. That package wouldn't never be offered and Brodeur will never be traded, so no point really debating it.

So, was your major premise for this trade that the Devils were sick of winning every year and wanted a chance to rest up in the Spring?

Just playing along. if were out of the playoff picture at the deadline... I'd do Kaberle, Kessel, and the monster for Marty and Rolston?
