Ok, so we saw how in the chicago - calgary game that was just on, that the hawks need to improve their goaltending situation. Im sure if we asked hawk fans, they would like some stability.
SO what im proposing is for us to continue on with our season, but keep an eye on the hawks, if they arre still having issues, we could offer them a nice package with halak, which could add some strength to our top 6 and/or D (Byfugilen/Sharp anyone?).
Of course, they key to this deal is making sure we are comfortable with price as a starter and have a good backup to replace halak.
But assuming we can trust Price, and make this deal, would you?
(also im not sure of the cap numbers for any possible package)
Maybe we can package
Kost Bros, Halak
for
Some 2nd liners and/or a decent D man to round out our roster (I personally would take the 2nd liners)
This could be they key to filling the void of our lack of secondary scoring.
I didn't see the game, but was it necessarily kipper's fault? I know you couldn't fault lundqvist when we did the same to the rangers.
kost brothers, halak, d'agostini
sharp, niemi, barker
Didn't watch the game either but i'm sure this has something to do with Huet and Chicago clearly wanting Halak to be there new starter. So they would get Halak and some more salary and give us Patrick Sharp

Well my point was that huet did not look good at all he let in 3 goals on 5 shots and apparently goaltending is the on thing holding chicago back from being true contenders. I know halak isnt exactly an experienced vet, but it could be intriguing for chicago.

Didn't Luongo let it in 3 on4 the other night? Sedins to Montreal.

I think Luongo has proven himself alot more than huet. If you read my initial proposal, im not talking about doing this deal now, only if huet continues to struggle. Obviously if chicago did this deal, say tomorrow, it owuld be a complete knee jerk reaction. I obviously know this deal would only be considered if they struggled between the pipes for a while.
good one. but seriously, it would be really beneficial for the flames if kipper wasnt gassed come playoff time after playing like 80 games.
That's why their fine with what they have, doubt the team was playing great after leading 5-0.

Yes Chicago wants another goalie and they want more players on their payroll, they will also give up one of their up and comers to us. Yes your right. how can i not have seen this.

Reason: Merge
Montreal and Chicago are a perfect fit as trading partners. Chicago needs to assemble cheap serviceable replacements for whoever they deal and we have a number of assets we can deal. The available players from Chicago also fit our new North American style game and our new MO of playing big in front of the net.
Our issue is size in the top 6 (I hope this isn't rocket science to anyone). You don't need all the skill in the world to score in this league, you can park in front of the net and score big goals. This is something though that I don't think Chicago can provide us with. Sharp (the only player I think is available to us with size up front) is 6'1" and 199 lbs. With that said, I'd still try to deal:
Kost Bros + our 2nd or 3rd best defensive prospect
for
Sharp + Barker
Unfortunately, I think it'll take us both Kost bros + Subban to nab those 2.
I would not move Halak. We don't have a back up then and I wouldn't trust Sanford yet with that job.
Here's a better question, why does Chicago trade him?
Cap. He's set to make 3 mill a year.
My choices of players to go after on Chicago are:
Barker
Sharp
Brouwer
Hjarmalsson
Byfuglien
Pretty much none of them will be traded until after the season.
Barker helps their d and will probably be kept. Brouwer is cheap and a good player. Hjar is underrated and he'll probably be signed cheap. Sharp and Buff might be traded at the end of the season if need be.

Good answer, now how do we help them out according to the first post? Halak and the brothers all go to Chicago.
