1 for 1. Just curious. I would do it in a heartbeat (flames fan here). I think if Phaneuf was paired wit hWeber, they would make a great combo and Weber would be able to cover up for all Dions misques.

Fly, you fool, you know not your peril!

(Less pop-culturey version: I don't think I could get away with suggesting a swap of Suter and Rick Nash, let alone this.)

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

They are not the same type of player, and we don't need a Phaneuf. We need the Suter we already have. Could use another just like him, in fact. Sorry.

I'd like to flip the question back to the op. Why would we need to replace Suter with Phaneuf? What does Phaneuf bring to the table that adds enough value to us to replace Suter with him? Shea Weber has a big point shot and is very physical, Suter is a playmaker that can skate and plays well in the defensive zone.

The problem with this trade is it creates a redundancy. Weber and Phaneuf are equals in every department arguably. They would not compliment each other.
Phaneuf was overrated when he came into the league and the expectations were for him to be better than Lidstrom by now. He let some of the hype go to his head, and forgot what got him to the NHL. Suter is way underrated and continues to work at getting better every day. Suter will not even make the US Olympic team, and please name 6 US born D-men better than him??

If Suter doesn't make the US Olympic team I'm cheering for Canada. The Umberger snub already has me pissed off.

No thanks.

Weber-Suter is already a great combo. And Weber doesn't have to cover Suter's mistakes all night.

From what I understand he is expected to be a Top 4 guy... Probably even top pairing.

Its not so much of what the preds need, but (flames fan here) what my team needs, and i wouldnt mind seeing Dion moved for Suter.

That's interesting logic...in that case, we'd like to trade Erat for Iginla...I wouldn't "mind" seeing that, either
