Soccer for mine... it was a fine night to sit outside and imagine that the Preds were playing well.

Sounds like I had more fun arguing with DirecTV for two hours, canceling my service with them and scheduling installation from DISH today (currently in process).

All that over $50 even though I've been a customer for about ten years.

Yep, I had more fun.

Oh well, after today I can return to my hockey viewing bliss/purgatory and have something to blog about again.

Edited for Backstory: I received a brand new HD-DVR three days ago. It replaced a SD DirecTIVO. The remote never worked for the new receiver (but did on another receiver) and the new receiver would occasionally receive a signal on one line and never on the other. Receiver in another room unaffected. DirecTV's SOP is to send a service technician- and charge me the $50 for the service call to troubleshoot a three-day-old receiver. I attempted to compromise by paying in full if there were coaxial/dish issues while DirecTV would foot the bill if it was their brand new receiver. No dice, nor would they offer to just replace the receiver.

Amazing.

Oh well.

OK.

Trig, brain and I take the blame for this loss.

And DirecTV. Yeah, that's even better.

I've been trying to get my co-worker and his wife into hockey. Thank God their current dish package didn't include FS-TN (that or he couldn't find the right channel). That game would have turned him off to the idea completely.

Rough night for sure...although the people in my section seemed to enjoy my
" PUT IN VINCE YOUNG" comment after Pekka let in the 4th goal.

After drinking that one off, reading some posts, and thinking back on the game I will say this. I absolutely love the way Hornqvist is playing this season. The way he was screening is something we haven't consistently had since we lost Hartnell, and Hornqvist doesn't take the stupid penalties. He battles along the boards, he isn't afraid to work for the garbage goals, and he makes smart passes to his linemates. He is making it very hard to put Dumont right back on to that wing once he returns.

I'm not really wishing for Dumont to stay out. I'm just enjoying what Hornqvist has brought to the team during his stay on the top line. I think he would spark the second line as well.

When we got a HD tv 2 years ago we got a new HD receiver. (We have Direct also)
At that time they replaced the HD receivers free if they malfunctioned. We went thru 6 HD receivers in 8 months. I unfortunately spent so much time on the phone with Direct that I knew more than 90% of their tech support. (not hard to do, imo)
They were lemons and consistently went bad.

Luckily I finally got one that lasted for 1 1/2 years.

Unfortunately now, it is having a lot of problems. I got the same answer.....Let us send out a service technician..

I am considering options.

Direct TV has horrid rude customer service.

Oh, my old Tivo I kept. It is in the basement hooked up to a tv. It is 10 years old and still going strong.

Since this is taking on a life of it's on, (not like that game was worth talking about) both Dish and direct have customer service equal to the Preds performance last night. I've installed for both (freelance) and they are both worse to people that are not their technicians. We were doing it for free at times to help friends, and they wanted to hound us because we were not licensed by them. It's not that hard at all to set up a dish or system BTW.
