We really need someone different on Staal's line. I wouldn't have a problem putting Scotty back up there. Watching Sammy loop and dance is getting old...
The story of the Penguins is that you always need to make their stars beat you. The truth is they LOOK so much better than us because Malkin and Crosby are the best in the world and they make the lines they play on the best lines in the world.
Tonight we've played a strong positional game, but Cam gave up a goal he would like to have back and Wallin collapsed at the wrong time. It happens. Two mistakes against a team like this one, a team that appears on the cusp of a dynasty run, will make you pay for those mistakes.
Malkin is the best player in the world, IMO. Better than Ovechkin and Crosby both. If he was as balls out as Ovechkin in terms of his demeanor and willingness to shoot from anywhere, it would be a no contest between them. He is just passive by nature.
Ward stood on his head in the 3rd, especially that save on Guerin. Unfortunately, Team Canada will have amazing goaltending. But who do you start, Ward or Fleury. Both were outstanding tonight.

Rotate in the group rounds and go with the hot hand in the medal rounds. The way both are going when compared to their rivals for the spots (Brodeur and Luongo) Cam and Fleury should be the ones getting the spots. Both goalies were stellar tonight when they needed to be. Just a damn good game by both goalies and teams tonight. Still hate shootouts, but it is what it is.
I'm so glad I was in the house for this one!!! Cam was simply amazing, and it was our best game so far!!! Even though we only came away with one point, I have a much better feeling about the team after this one than after beating Tampa Bay a week ago. Good job, guys!
Thought tonight was going to be a hockey miracle. One of those stories to tell. But nope.
I haven't worn a hat to a hockey game since I was probably 12 years old. For one, I look stupid in most hats, and also I know that if a hat trick is scored I WILL be throwing it. Well, I've had my eye on that white 2010 draft hat since I first saw it, and at the 2nd intermission we had scored all of 1 goal in the 3 games I have attended this season (missed the Florida game), so I went downstairs to The Eye and bought the hat. I figure I would pay $25 up front for a hat trick anyway, so it's worth a shot.
Sure enough, Whitney scores 2 goals. Thought for sure he was gonna get the third.
I know this is a little odd, considering the game Ward had, but it's something that my roommates and I have seen in the past couple games, and it's starting to bug me.
Is there something wrong with Ward? Something happening in his life that would take his mind off the game? He doesn't seem to trust himself as much as he did last year. Everytime he loses sight of the puck, he flails around, looks behind him, and often time puts himself in a more dangerous position by doing so. In that same note, his commitment to shots this year are far earlier than they need to be. The Rupp goal was because he committed too early, as was the Crosby shootout goal.
Don't get me wrong, he's played great this year, and is often the only reason we're in most of the games. But as I said earlier, it's bugging me (mostly the commitment thing), and if it becomes a habit with him, it could lead to some nasty games down the road.
Cam was fantastic, the guys should be buying him a steak dinner for that one save on Guerin. I thought it was a pretty good game, save a chunk of the 2nd where everybody seemed to fall asleep for a while. I too was impressed by the intensity they came out with at the beginning. Sucks we didn't get the 2 pts but hey at least Malkin didn't score in the shootout.
