If not for injuries....

Stealing a topic from the main board.

If not for injuries, who out of these players would have had the better career?

Lemieux and Orr left off this list as they would probably run-away with the poll.

Mike Bossy , The guy was a scoring machine but sadly got injured in his 10th seasons . I said sadly because he would have set a record of 10 50 goals seasons at his first 10 seasons in the league.

Think about it, most of you are all high on Alexander Ovechkin and how great he is , well even in this new style of hockey , more open , OV wasnt able to score 50 at his second season . Bossy did it at his first 9 seasons . Think about it , 50 goals a year for his first 9 str8 year. Sadly he got injure at his last season ( 10Th ) scoring 38 goals in 63 games.

The better player? Prolly Lindros...

I voted for forsberg cause hes just already scary good.

The issue isnt who would be better for most of these players its who would have more points.. their talents in general wernt hit, in exception to lindros.

Forsberg is the best player of the group.

Lindros would have been better if he stayed healthy and didnt get cuncussed.

Not to take anything away from Bossy, but the NHL featured much more offense during his career, compared to today. The NHL featured an average of 7.50 goals per game during Bossy's ten-year career, roughly 25% more offense than there is in today's game.

In fairness to Bossy, I think you've left out his most important accomplishments: a Conn Smythe trophy and his three consecutive years as the NHL's best goal-scorer in the playoffs.

I like to think that Bure would have scored 700 if he played the amount of seasons that Joe Sakic did. Maybe thats just wishful thinking.

Oy. Didn't notice Bossy buried at the bottom of the list.

Went with Lindros, but Mike Bossy was an amazing player that would have really been one of the greats, instead of the guy that's always forgotten in that discussion because of his short career.

One of, if not the greatest pure goal scorer in NHL history, Mike Bossy.

Bossy got most of his prime years in though, theres no disputing his greatness or wondering how good he could've been. I think Neely and Lindros would benefit most since their primes and careers were cut short to a far greater degree than the others.

[Thank you for a thought-provoking poll.]

Bossy or Forsberg for me and it's a tough choice. I picked Forsberg.

Agreed. I went with Forsberg due to the fact that with injuries he already had the better career so without injuries it would be the same. Lindros and Bossy would be extremely close behind it's almost a toss up between the 3 of them.

This is a great poll and a really hard choice. I'm torn between Bossy, Lindros, and Forsberg. Of course, most of Lindros's injuries were his own damn fault, but in this fantasy world where he doesn't get injured, he's definitely in the conversation.

Lindros > Neely among power forwards and Bossy > Bure among offensive wingers, so I can at least rule those two out.

Damnit, I voted Lindros thinking everyon was voting Bossy

Damn, I stick to my vote. Boss had most of prime, it's just that he missed out on breaking the all-time goals record, which he had an excellent shot at.

Eric Lindros, had it not been for injuries I think he would have scored at least 1500 points.
