Belle had a terrible third period. He was responsible for the last goal when he left the front of the net wide open to get into the same corner as Mara (and Gomez) and lost his one on one battle which led to the pass to the front of the net, where two Colorado players were just standing. Brutal.
Actually he left because Paciorety and Gionta were both standing there. They failed to cover for him.
The referees were bad on both sides. From what I saw, calls were missed on EACH side, not just the Habs side. They made some phantom calls on our side, yes. They missed some calls for us, yes. They also missed some calls on the Avs side as well.
Plekanec's goal should have been disallowed, plain and simple. It hit the protector net, the play should have been whistled dead. Therefor, we either lose 2-1 or 3-1. Either way, we still lost and that non-call on Plecky's goal was by far the worst decision.
The referees were bad tonight. You have your off nights and you have your on nights. Instead of heckling the referees for having their bad night, why the hell aren't we talking about how bad the team was? For Christ's sakes, the team was purely awful tonight both offensively and defensively.
It's so ****ing frustrating to go through a ****** year last year, see all the turn over, get **** from other fan bases and the media about the changes, come into the year with high hopes, then struggle to beat a winless team so far, then lose four ****ing straight including your home opener.
**** this team right now. Where is the offense. It seems like we only get sustained pressure two times a game. Once when we score in the first half of the game, and once in the last 5 minutes of a game when we're losing.
It's hard to get upset over such a weird game. 2 Avs goals off our defensemen's skates and 1 that arguably shouldn't have happened because apparently boarding is legal now...of course, our second goal shouldn't have counted either.
We outplayed them in the first, had a terrible second, and then played well in the third. Still looking for a solid 60 minute effort from this group.
On the plus side, Plekanec is still awesome, Andrei played solid and had two helpers, Shawn Belle acquitted himself well except for the third goal, Hamrlik was very good, so was Gorges, Pacioretty showed some flashes...
On the minus side, Cammalleri has to start scoring goals because our offense is anemic otherwise. Likewise for Spacek. Lapierre and Latendresse are ghosts...Lapierre at least has a good forecheck but Latendresse looks more useless than ever. Hal Gill continues to bone the team at the most inopportune times.
Nothing really to say about Price either way. He played fine and was not the problem tonight. A couple of unlucky bounces and got hung out to dry by his defense on the third goal.
Reffing was terrible in the third for both side, but it seems like the Habs got the worst of it. It started to feel like all the non-calls were making up for the missed puck in the mesh.
